Exactly what makes a boss excellent can be decided in a few ways. The sheer challenge and impending doom that a boss providesis certainly one metric, but an equally important measure would be how significant the boss battle is to the overall story and characters you’ve been playing as.
10The Winged Dragon
This deceptively easy boss fight will probably stillcause a lot of players some unneeded stressif they aren’t sure of the best strategy. There is never a moment of rest in this fight. You not only have to deal with The Winged Dragon but also two Baby Dragons as well.
It’s a fast-paced and tough battle out of the gate. The key to victory for this one is to focus on the two Baby Dragons so that your healers and magic users can actually have the time to get off a few much-needed spells.
9Remiel
Fighting Remiel isn’t great because it’s an incredible boss fight, though it is fun. The Remiel boss fight is great because it feels so good to lay some smackdown on that pompous angel. His boss fight isn’t that bad, especially if you’ve been a diligent fighter throughout the game thus far.
As long as you may avoid Holy Lance, you just need to smack Remiel with the strongest attacks you’ve got, and he’ll be a fallen angel in no time. It’s great to see him groveling to Kratos, asking for any kind of help, though the reckoning you’re about to feel from Kratos definitely isn‘t great.
8The Sword Dancer
You’d think that since you have to facethe optional bossSword Dancer three times, it would actually get easier to fight, even if it did get stronger. That couldn’t be more wrong. Even with a diligently leveled team, the Sword Dancer will always be ready for you.

You’ll need to be as strong as possible to take this boss on for the final time, considering it can wipe your entire team if it hits each character with one or two moves. It can be so brutally difficult that a strategy guide might help you, but it can’t guarantee victory.
7Exbelua
One of the earliest boss fights in the game is also one of the best in a narrative sense. Exbelua isn’t too tough for Lloyd and Genis, though an inexperienced player may still have some trouble with the fight.
You don’t know it, but you’re actually fighting the deformed version of Marble, the kind old lady Genis had been talking to at the human ranch. You’re forced to beat her down until she comes to her senses and sacrifices herself. It’s a shockingly emotional beat incredibly early on in the game, making the fight all the more rewarding.
6Yggdrasill
The first time you face Yggdrasill is a bit of a letdown, but the second time is much better. It’s a thrilling battle against a seriously powerful magic user. If you aren’t careful, Yggdrasill will have no problem leaving you without a team after only a few powerful techs.
Regardless of who you prefer on your team, you will want at least one dedicated healer and a lot of additional healing items. You will be taking a lot of unavoidable damage, and all of it will be heavy. Play defensively, and you’ll take Yggdrasill down in no time.
5Origin
The final summon spirit that you’re actually forced to face off against is also one of the best boss fights in the game. There really isn’t much of a strategy to taking him on other thanhave an awesome healer, and be ready to dish out serious damage.
This lets you take your preferred team into a fairly important battle. Keep an eye out for Thunder Arrow to avoid Origin’s most powerful attack, and be ready to throw your strongest techs at the beast over and over.
4Ktugach
While it is important to acknowledge that Ktugach isn’t one of the most difficult battles in the game, it can serve as a serious first roadblock for beginners. Those who haven’t taken the time to learn the different character’s techs and the general flow of battle will seriously struggle here.
If you aren’t aware you can turn off techs, Genis may end up healing the boss over and over again by accident. Skilled players may breeze by the boss, but Ktugach is an understated challenge many players have struggled with.
3Mithos
The final fight against Mithos is a two-part affair that some people have mixed opinions on. The first phase can be a serious challenge, but the second phase is far too easy. Regardless, the boss does ooze a climactic energy.

In the first phase, Mithos hits fast and constantly debuffs your party. In the second phase, Mithos becomes much slower and more physically oriented, making him much easier to wallop. Struggling through the final battle with your preferred team is worth it to finally save the world from the ever-misguided Mithos.
2Kratos
You actually have to fight Kratos at multiple points throughout the story, and they are all excellent. The first time you face him, you’re meant to lose, but as a skilled player, you can overcome the challenge and beat him in the fight. Having that kind of skill is rare, but it is possible.
Most people favorthe one-on-one fight between Kratos and Lloydbecause of the sheer epicness of the encounter and how rewarding it is on a story level. Seeing Lloyd be able to surpass his immensely powerful father is a sight to behold.
1Abyssion
To many, Abyssion is the true final test of Tales Of Symphonia Remastered. It’s one of the wildest fights in the entire Tales series, thanks to the sheer output of damage Abyssion is capable of.
If you want to see any kind of major success in this fight, you’ll need to make sure you’ve leveled up your team as high as you can while also getting the best gear possible. The thing that makes him tough? The sheer options he has and never knowing what he’ll pull out against you next or when.
