Because of this, many great titles in the horror, puzzle, or even action-packed shooter genre display some reference to them. And, with how much of an impact the horror demoPThad when launched back in 2014, countless more references are being added to new games for people to enjoy.

10Death Stranding Director’s Cut

It should come as no surprise thatDeath Stranding, a game made by Kojima Productions, would have a reference to its unfinished horror game PT. Only found in the director’s cut version, this adds a lot of additional content and easter eggs hidden throughout the game.

This reference, in particular, has a chance ofhappening randomly after you enter your chambers and fall asleep. When you wake up, you’ll see a dark figure standing inside your shower. If you approach it, a scene then plays out.

9Goat Simulator 3

Goat Simulator has always been a funny and relaxing game where you can destroy your environment while embarking on mini sidequests full of references and jokes. And, withGoat Simulator 3, there are even more content and easter eggs to find and play around with.

One of these is a PT easter egg in a place named Quiet Hill, located in the Mornwood Falls area. After entering the house there, you’ll be trapped in the now-iconic looping hallway. Once you complete this easter egg, you’ll get a nice ghost sheet cosmetic reward.

8Superliminal

WhenSuperliminallaunched in 2019, it shocked many people as a surreal puzzle game that used perspective to solve each level. However, it also included tons of easter eggs and references for you to find scattered throughout each area, requiring you to change how you think about discovering secrets.

One such example is the secret ending located in the blackout level of the game, where you must navigate through dark areas using light. Once you reach the end of this area, if you go backward throughout the map, you’ll come across a chess piece sitting in a room looking at cameras — a reference to the dog ending in Silent Hill 2.

7Visage

If you go upstairs into the house, and then to the map room, there will be a safe that can be unlocked with a key. Inside is a note that reads “Room 302” and points to the basement. Once you go down to the basement, there will be a door that, once opened, holds the easter egg to Silent Hill 4 with a funny twist.

6Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain

One of Kojima’s greatest games,Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, proved that he was a master at making video games. So, it should be no surprise that this game also has an easter egg related to PT, which was never launched fully to the public.

Near the Ngumba Industrial Zone, located within the Angola-Zaire Border Region, there is a small tent with a radio inside that plays the story of PT on repeat. In PT, there is a similar radio located on a table that likewise plays the story, and becomes more distorted as you progress through the repeating hallway.

Observeris a psychological horror game set in a dystopian world, withBlade Runnerbeing its primary influence. Located at the very beginning of the game is a secret easter egg referencing PT. However, instead of just creating an infinite hallway, Observer offers a truly horrifying experience with each passage you go down.

The room in question is located on the second floor of the apartment at number 202. A password is required to enter, which can be found in the laundry room on the same floor. Once you enter the password, you’ll be able to witness Bloober Team’s take on PT.

Dead By Daylightis a multiplayer horror game that launched in 2016 to highly positive reviews, but in 2020 a new DLC was add to the game. Although it is based entirely around Silent Hill, it is still surprising how many easter eggs and references are hidden around the Midwich Elementary School map.

In the background, while playing on the map,you can hear the same sirens that you would listen to in Silent Hill. There are also Robbie the Rabbit costumes you can use, and there is even a secret way to open up the Clock Tower on the map.

As Vaas goes to open the door, it suddenly reveals a long hallway that stretches out to the right, with another door blocking it. Vaas says that he feels like he’s seen this exact scene in a game before, and then asks, “Whatever happened to that?”

2Destroy All Humans 2: Reprobed

In the remake ofDestroy All Humans 2, the developers decided to add a variety of easter eggs hidden throughout the map and each level. And in one such level, when you’re kidnapped and taken to the ABCESS Mental Reconditioning Facility, you’ll find an easter egg for Silent Hill 2.

After waking up and gaining control of your character, head out the door and take two immediate rights until you see a slightly open door. If you look in the crack, you’ll find a dog sitting at a control panel — a reference to the Silent Hill 2 joke ending where it was the dog controlling everything all along.

1The Medium

Once you reach the Niwa Hotel inThe Medium, you’ll find yourself faced with various puzzles to reach the second floor and find Sadness. However, hidden in the clues to solve a puzzle, is a particularly hard-to-spot reference to Silent Hill 2.

In the hotel ledger on the left side of the page, you’ll find the words, “I feel so pathetic and ugly laying here, waiting for you.” This quote is actually a clever reference to Mary’s letter in Silent Hill 2, after you finish the game and get what is known as the ‘leave ending.’
