In the advent of the second installation of the dungeon-crawling, god-like roguelike,Hades, fans speculate which deity would grace the underworld with their divinity. The gods, demigods, and god-like were integral to Hades’ narrative premise and gameplay loop. Their interconnections, riffs, boons, and family drama made Zagreus’ journey to the surface equally bearable and laborious, making it a compelling adventure.

At the onset, what is known is that the hell boy, Zagreus, would not be reprising his role as the main character. Instead, the game would follow the Chthonic goddess Melinoe, Zagreus’ sister, on her way down to the deepest abyss of hell. But, more than Melinoe’s reveal, are new exalted myth characters that got the game’s die-hard fans ruminating about who else would be in this budding epic of the goddess of madness and nightmares.
8Hephaestus
It was a bummer the god of fire and forge was left out of the first Hades game. It would be amazing to see how Hephaestus translates into the game’s hand-drawn art style, given that the other gods were a far cry from how they are usually portrayed in games and media.
Fundamental in Zagreus' quest was hisselection of weaponsor the infernal arms and temporary upgrades you could earn through gameplay. Therefore, it would make the most sense to have the blacksmith god either forge each weapon’s aspects or provide boons to the Melinoe’s arsenal.
7Hera
If there’s one god who’d like to meddle in the affairs of others, it’s definitely the queen of the gods, Hera. So when most of the Olympians looked down on Zagreus and decided to intervene in his expedition out of hell, it was expected that the god of marriage herself would do the same.

Her records would show how she resorts to violent extremities against the offspring of her cheating husband. Hermes would not be very enthusiastic about delivering the message of Melinoe’s paternity to the queen herself. It would be a revelation to see her in a boss fight equipped with the heart-seeking bow as the original wielder of the weapon, where she was feared for her deadeye’s accuracy.
6Hestia
Melinoe’s journey will be an arduous one with few opportunities for respite. Hestia, the goddess of the hearth and home, could provide a much-needed safe space for the goddess to take a break andpurchase items from her shop. Hestia was one of the original participants in the war against the titans, so it’s in her best interest to stop her father from escaping.
Hades lore mentions that Hestia is the original wielder of the Exagryph, a weapon crafted from metal and flame that was forbidden and hidden away from mortals. While her gentle soul might not want to see the destructive Adamant Rail again, perhaps she has a new Infernal Arm to bestow to match its strength.
5Atlas
The Hades 2 trailer hinted at the titan of time and the imprisonment of Hades, which might allude to shadows of the Titanomachy or its grand recurrence. If the titans were indeed to have a comeback, a character from the myths with a devastating motive for vengeance against the gods would be the eternally condemned Atlas.

The titan carried the weight of the heavens and skies only to be turned to stone. Atlas holds an eternity of grievances against the gods and could assist Melinoe by giving up their influence in exchange for his own. The titan’s endless knowledge and anger would create an exciting pit stop between descending levels.
4Prometheus
The gods weren’t the best rulers of humanity, and this is evident from their casual smiting and reckless abandon of humanity’s welfare just to ease their pride and fuel their disdain over other gods and even titans. Prometheus was a funny titan who often tricked Zeus, urging the latter to retaliate by taking fire out of men.
Despite his trickster disposition, Prometheus ultimately wanted men to flourish, so he stole back the fire from Zeus to give mankind. Prometheus' flawed but ultimately good intentions are a perfect excuse for conditional boons you’ll only get after performing specific tasks for him.
3Heracles
Wherever Heracles is—whether inElysium or Olympus—it would be a curious sight for him to step back into his role as Champion of Elysium. But instead of Theseus and the Minotaur, Heracles could have the Cerberus fighting alongside since he muscled the hound to submission as during his twelfth labor.
Legendary is an understatement to have some, if not all, of the twelve labors of Heracles be reflected in his attacks if he were to be a boss fight. Imagine a lion, hydra, hind, mare, boar, birds, and bull coming at Melinoe simultaneously, like a zoo on a rampage.
2Nyx
Nyx was present in the first game, but her initial appearance failed to suggest her true potential. There was only a glimpse of Nyx’s tremendous power by repeatedly reviving Zagreus. Zeus himself fears Nyx as she has power over night and darkness, and it would be horrific to draw her ire.

While she was benevolent in the first game, it would be a severe plot twist to be in the twilight of her mercy. Her intentions and motivations are as clouded as the darkness she commands, and Melinoe’s attempts to destroy the god of time could set her off.
1Zagreus
Zagreus’ escape was a one-of-a-kind experience in each of his several attempts. But a new protagonist does not foreclose the return of the former, especially since Melinoe and Zagreus share a mother and possibly a father.
Even as an intervening entity like the other Olympians, a big brother’s help would be monumental as he gives his little sisters boons or weapon upgrades. The mirroring ofZagreus’ ascent to the surfaceand Melinoe’s descent to the depths pre-destines an intersection at some point. If these two rebels teamed up, it would mean hell for their enemies.
