Summary

In a gaming landscape where inclusion, diversity, and accessibility are making incredible progress, gaming enthusiasts have enjoyed moreLGBTQ+ gamesthan ever before. While there’s still much work to be done, it’s important to celebrate games that are making space for all gamers. For example, many people identify with gender identities outside the typical gender binary.

Though non-binary representation is becoming more commonplace, finding inclusive games can still be difficult. Luckily, the following games feature enby protagonists, more pronoun options, and non-binary-friendly character creation, letting you create a character who represents you best without a boundary between masculine and feminine expression.

Setsu from Gnosia

Updated on July 25, 2025, by PJ Molloy:Inclusivity in video games is only a good thing, and thankfully, the indie community is doing wonders for incorporating more non-binary character options. We’ve added some new recommendations for games with exceptional enby representation.

12Gnosia

A Social Deduction Game That Explores Gender Identity

Picture Among Us as a single-player experience. That’s Gnosia in a nutshell. You and 14 NPCs are trapped on a spaceship with an alien impostor. You must investigate, learn each character’s backstory, deduce the killer, and argue your case in fast-paced, round-table debates.

When creating your character, you can pick between male, female, and non-binary genders. If you identify as enby, all the characters will use they/them pronouns for you. Plus, the characters Setsu and Raqio are non-binary as well. There’s even some meaningful dialogue about how gender is a construct.

A farmer harvesting crops in Pumpkin Days

11Pumpkin Days

A Cozy Farming Sim With Many Options For Gender Expression

If you’re looking for a cozy,LGBTQ-friendly indie game, Pumpkin Days is an excellent choice. It’s a relaxing farming simulator where you’re able to fish, raise animals, harvest crops, and more. You can even grab a friend for online co-op or compete with each other by working at rival farms.

The character customization allows for many non-binary options. Nothing is exclusive to a specific gender, letting you dress, style, and accessorize your farmer in whichever way you choose. As the cherry on top, you can romance characters of any gender and even start a polyamorous relationship.

Selecting a character class in Baldur’s Gate 3

Before you embark on a journey through the Forgotten Realms, Baldur’s Gate 3 lets you choose from various races, classes, and origins. Along with assigning your ability points, customizing your character is one of the most fun parts of starting a new RPG.

Baldur’s Gate 3 offers three gender identity choices: man, woman, and non-binary. These choices affect your character’s pronouns in-game, so if you identify as non-binary, your character will be addressed with they/them pronouns. Your appearance, voice, and body type are also customizable, separate from your identity, leaving your gender expression entirely up to you.

Sol from I Was a Teenage Exocolonist

I Was a Teenage Exocolonist is a cozy sci-fi RPG where you explore a strange world, fall in love, and master your skills as you grow up in humanity’s first extrasolar space colony. The game combines elements from many genres, including life-sim mechanics, card-based combat, and a wide variety of dateable characters.

The game’s character creation system makes space for the gender spectrum with sliders. On one end, there’s a feminine identity. On the other, there’s a masculine identity, and you can choose where you fall in between. It also offers an impressive, in-depth pronoun system that allows you to write in custom pronouns, adjusting how each character you meet addresses your protagonist. These options can also be changed at any point in the game.

Body type, pronoun, voice, and hairstyle options in Arcadia Fallen

8Arcadia Fallen

A Visual Novel With LGBTQ+ Romance And Non-Binary Characters

Arcadia Fallen is a magical visual novel where you play as a young alchemist apprentice thrown into a war between humanity and magic. Along withLGBTQ-friendly romance options, the character creator offers a variety of choices, including non-binary support.

There are three body type options (androgynous, feminine, and masculine) and three pronoun options: they/them, she/her, and he/him. Body type, pronouns, hairstyles, and voice type can all be selected separately from one another, allowing you to customize your alchemist accordingly.

Harvestella gender options, including male, female, and non-binary

Harvestella is a charming farming sim that incorporates JRPG game mechanics. There are many explorable areas, crafting systems, an engaging narrative, and enemies to fight as you care for your farm across the seasons.

The character creator includes male, female, and non-binary gender options. Then, you may select your character’s appearance, voice, and name while combining masculine and feminine customizations, reflecting your character’s identity without strict boundaries. By choosing non-binary, characters will also address you using they/them pronouns.

Split-image of The bard and group of characters singing in Wandersong.

Wandersong takes you on a musical 2D platforming adventure. You play as a bard who uses music to interact with the environment and solve puzzles. At the start of the game, you set out to learn the Earthsong, which is sung to prevent the end of the world. However, you’ll need to discover pieces of it from each Overseer residing in the Spirit World.

It’s a charming, emotional story with a large cast of characters. The indie developer Greg Lobanov confirmed that the bard protagonist (also known as Kiwi) is non-binary, and any pronouns can be used to refer to them.

NPCs walking around the colony in Verdant Skies

5Verdant Skies

Mingle With LGBTQ+ Characters In Space

Farming life sims are great for cozy mornings when you just want to dive into a rural world of simpler times: fishing, growing crops, and befriending villagers. Verdant Skies lets you do just that — but in space. The success of your colony in the world of Viridis Primus depends on your scientific farming system. You’ll spend time decorating your new home, exploring, and falling in love as well.

When you create your character, you can mix and match masculine and feminine attributes as you please (which you can change at any time in the game). Verdant Skies also doesn’t ask you to choose a gender, as your character is non-binary and addressed with they/them pronouns. The enby representation doesn’t end there, either. The local medic Zaheen Patel uses they/them pronouns and is one of the dateable characters you can pursue.

A robot blocking the protagonist from proceeding in 2064: Read Only Memories

A Point-And-Click Game With A Variety Of Pronouns

A cyberpunk setting collides with a mysterious story in 2064: Read Only Memories, a modern yet old-school point-and-click adventure game. You play as a journalist who meets a cute blue robot named Turing (after they break into your apartment), and you’re asked to track down Turing’s creator, Hayden Webber, a technical genius who has gone missing.

After discussing where Hayden may have gone, Turing decides to set you up with a user account in their system, asking you for your name, pronouns, and preferred diet (for restaurant recommendations, of course). The pronoun options are especially impressive, including they/them, she/her, he/him, ze/zir, xe/xir, and you can type in custom pronouns if none of those fit.

Frisk talking to characters and lying in a field of yellow flowers in Undertale

If you haven’t experienced Undertale for yourself yet, you’ve at least heard of this unforgettable retro-style RPG. Its compelling story begins with a child who falls underground into a world of monsters. Finding your way out will either consist entirely of violence, peace, or something in between.

It’s a game full of charming characters, great jokes, and a heartfelt story. You take on the role of Frisk, whose personality and gender are purposefully left ambiguous so you can project your preferences onto the character. Along with their neutral character design, Frisk is also addressed with they/them pronouns throughout the game, maintaining the gender-neutral identity.
