Black Myth: Wukong is coming in Summer 2024, developer Game Science has officially announced. In a special video that contains only a few glimpses of the new gameplay itself, the studio hinted you might need to upgrade your PC to enjoy this modern take on a Chinese classic.
It’s been a few months since we last heard of Black Myth: Wukong, as the devs usually break the silence on a project about twice a year. The celebration of theChinese New Year seems like the right momentto remind us about the ambitious upcoming project, and introduce its first-ever launch window. The game is now expected to arrive sometime in Summer 2024, which is pretty far away, sure, yet hopefully, still tolerable for fans. According to its officialwebsite, Wukong is coming to “PC and other main-stream consoles,” probably meaning PS5 and Xbox Series X/S are both on the table.

The date was announced in a stop-motion short film starring gamer bunny, who eagerly wants to finally play Black Myth: Wukong. However, he’s up to no luck, firstly being forced to upgrade his gaming machine to enjoythis Unreal Engine 5-powered title, and then finding out the anticipated game is actually years from launch. You can check out the video featuring new shots of Black Myth’s gameplay below.
Black Myth was originally introduced all the way back in August 2020, with animpressive 13-minute pre-alpha gameplayfootage that immediately aroused interest around it. Whether the footage was actually from a real game remains to be seen, yetwith every new demonstration, Game Science never fails to impress. Considering the title will be in development for about five years by next summer, Black Myth: Wukong may eventually live up to its promise.
There’s some kind of downside to all the excitement though, as there have been someclaims about several misogynistic and homophobic commentsmade by studio’s founder Féng Ji. Older reports also accused Game Science of having a toxic, male-dominated work culture, and there have been no disproofs on that front ever since. Hopefully, the studio took measures towards improving its working conditions over the past months.
