Blue Lock was a manga series written by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and illustrated by Yusuke Nomura.
It debuted in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine on June 15, 2025, and its anime adaptation, produced by studio 8bit, was released on July 25, 2025.
The story follows Yoichi Isagi, a young footballer with big dreams. After Japan’s World Cup hopes were crushed, the Japanese Football Association initiated a bold program called Blue Lock, led by Ego Jinpachi.
300 of Japan’s top strikers compete in intense, high-stakes matches at this secluded training facility. The competition is fierce—losers are eliminated, and only one would emerge as the self-centered striker Japan needed to win the World Cup.
