Summary
Clash Royaleis a favorite mobile game among many players around the world. This strategic card game includes various types of cards you can pick to create the ultimate battle deck. When creating one, it’s essential to include a diversity of cards to battle and defend against all types of attacks. This will greatly increase your chances of winning against each rival you face.
A more difficult-to-grasp rarity is the Champion cards. These are unique in the sense that each one has a special ability that costs extra Elixir, which is not seen with any other card type. Champion cards are powerful, but require an extra step to use to their fullest potential.
Updated on June 08, 2025, by Umair Malik:We added the latest character to join the roster, the Little Prince, and we updated the style of the list you have in front of your eyes. Check out which Champion cards should be in your deck!
6Monk
Now You Can Parry Projectiles
This spiritual lad is a strong Champion card that is unlocked once you reach Arena 18. The Monk fights by using combo hits. His cool-looking special ability is called Pensive Protection, which means he blocks projectiles targeted at him and then reflects them back onto his rival.
Quite surprisingly, he could defend against seemingly impossible attacks, such as destructive Rockets. However, this is more difficult to perform as there is only a small window to successfully defend against this attack.
The Monk costs a heavy five Elixir, while his special ability costs only one Elixir. There is no doubt it’s expensive to use, and it must be timed correctly to be the most effective and useful. Despite the Monk’s dynamism and ability to do both offensive and defensive maneuvers, even the most skillful Clash Royale players will have a difficult time using the Monk to deploy devastating attacks and counters.
5Skeleton King
A Walking Talking Graveyard, Not Sure If He Can Talk Though
A deadly yet sensitive creature, the Skeleton King is a frightening figure within the Champion card roster. His special ability is called Soul Summoning: Once he is deployed onto the field, he will be able to collect enemy souls upon their demise. He then uses these souls later, at the point where he decides to summon a horde of skeletons.
Ultimately, the number of skeletons summoned will be dependent on the number of souls he entrapped earlier. If the Skeleton King did not collect any souls, he would only summon six. The maximum number he can deploy is 16, which only happens if he collects a total of ten souls.
He is great when placed in defensive positions, placing him behind one of your troopscan create a pretty devastating attack wave on your opponent. The price to use this dark figure is four Elixir, while his ability costs two to perform.
4Mighty Miner
Versatile On Defense And Offense If Used Right
This miner is distinguished from his predecessor, as his skills make him a bit more complex. His main form of dealing damage is with the big drill that he carries. The longer he drills, the higher the damage is done.
What’s so cool about this guy is his ability to switch lanes by digging underground and only after leaving a bomb behind him. This particular talent is called Explosive Escape, and it can be really useful when timed correctly. The Mighty Miner costs four Elixir to utilize and an additional one to use his Explosive skill. He is cheaper than other Champion cards and is great if you want to perform a quick attack to their Princess Tower.
3Queen Archer
Possibly One Of The Best Defensive Cards In The Game
This lady cannot stop reminding us of her royalty with her continuous “But I’m the Queen!” exclamations. Anyways, the Queen Archer can be a fantastic range troop, as her Cloaking Cape skill makes her invisible and grants her stealth, allowing her to shoot arrows at a rapid rate. She can be used instead of other ranged troops, such as the Archers or the Musketeer. The Queen Archer costs a total of six Elixir if we include her special ability, which is why she can’t be placed at a whim.
A good way to use her majesty is by placing her behind a troop with high hitpoints, such as the Giant, Giant Skeleton, Golem, and so forth. Your rival will attempt to quickly kill the Queen, but if she manages to target the Tower, well… let’s just say rest in piece.
2Golden Knight
A Non-Stop Dashing Bandit That Can Hit Multiple Troops, What More Do You Want
A shiny character with blonde bright flowing hair, the Golden Knight is one that stands out from many other ground troops. This eccentric card is a particularly powerful card, as his ability Dashing Dash is able to hit with pretty high damage troops within a vicinity at an impressive speed. After he does so, he will swing his sword at a super quick rate, which may panic you if you have run out of Elixir.
This ray of sunshine can be fantastically paired with a flying troop to initiate a ruinous charge. Surprisingly, he can be effective when defending yourbase against hordes, including those of Goblins or Skeletons. When including his special ability, he costs a total of five Elixir. This with the fact that he is a very strong character makes this Champion card quite attractive to have in your deck.
1Little Prince
A High Damage Little Troop Alongside A High HP Big Troop
The Little Prince was the best champion ever released and was seen inevery variation of every deck in the meta for that season. This is because of the value you got for just three elixir, essentially a rapid-firing musketeer and a knight as the champion ability which could erase swarms of enemies or even tank damage on defense.
Since a lot of players managed to get it for free, you’d see the Little Prince in almost every match, and despite his nerfs, he’s still possibly the best champion in Clash Royale because of his versatility.
