What would an RPG be without an intensely frustrating teleporter puzzle? Well, notValkyrie Profile: Lenneth, that’s for certain! The Arianrod Labyrinth is a short, sweet, and challenging dungeon that tests not only your logic but your basic arithmetic.

Unlike most of the other dungeons in the game, the Labyrinth has a distinctly futuristic vibe to it, with machinery and magic bleeding into each other. The monsters you’ll face, however, are more of the standard, gruesome undead creatures that you’ve come to expect from his game. Let us guide you through this mathematical nightmare of unholy proportions.

Arianrod Labyrinth Overview

There is one gimmick to this dungeon -teleporters. There are many rooms in this dungeon, and helpfully, they’re all numbered. When you step onto a teleporter pad, you’ll spot a handynumberclose by that tells you what your destination is. We’ll be using these, plus a little applied mathematics, to scour the place of treasure and confront a very difficult boss at the end.

How To Navigate The Labyrinth

As explained in the overview above,the teleporters in this dungeon take you to the room designated with the number listed on the machine. The aim of this dungeon is to reach Room 25, which contains the boss.

Before taking the first teleporter, hop over and open the chest here to get anEye of Heaven. It’s trapped with an arrow, so jump as soon as you open it.

Valkyrie Profile Lenneth - Arianrod Labyrinth 3 and 11

Take the teleporters without interacting with any of the orbs until you end up in Room 8. Open the chest here (and stay crouched to avoid the trap) to getMagic Blade “Cromrea”- a very strong sword that weakens your normal attacks but severely boosts your PWS attacks.

When you get to the room with two numbers, you’ll be introduced to the complex part of this dungeon: math.Interacting with the orbs on the ground will flip the nearby number between two states, and you can use this to identify how these machines work.

On this screen,interact with the right-hand orb to flip the two to a minus two, and then head toRoom 16. Take the transporter here, and open the chest in the next room to get aWand of Apocalypse.

The Wand of Apocalypseis even better than an Ether Scepteranddoesn’t have a chance of breakingwhen you use a PWS Great Magic! Definitely equip this to your main sorcerer, and start using Great Magic attacks with abandon!

On the next screen,change the left number to ‘three’ and the right number to ‘ten.‘Take the teleporter toRoom 13and open the chest to getEternal Fault, being wary of the explosion trap. Eternal Fault is a good spear, but you might have far better ones at this point (such as the Crimson Edge).

Take the transporter to Room 12, and thentake the transporter in that room to Room 14. In this room, pick up theFoul Slayer, being especially wary of the explosion trap, which might throw you into the teleporter.

In the room with the Foul Slayer chest, interact with the orb toset the number to ‘seven,‘and take the teleporter.In Room 7, simply take the next teleporter to Room 6.

Interact with both orbs in this room toset the teleport target to Room 11. In Room 11, open the chest to get aFlame Jewel(beware the arrow trap) and then set the numbers to two and 15, makingRoom 17the target.

In Room 17, save your game. Set the numbers here to’five’ and ‘multiply by five’to set the teleport target toRoom 25, which is where we’ll find theboss. That was a short dungeon, huh?

How To Beat Dark Lord

This is a very tough fight to deal with.Dark Lord is backed up by two Demon “Vallans,“who are probably worthy of being called bosses themselves.

Your first instinct with this fight will be to eliminate the Demons and then unleash hell onto the Dark Lord - this would be a pretty bad idea, though.While he’s in the back row, the Dark Lord cannot attack you. This is good, asthe Dark Lord has incredibly painful attacksand can easily wipe out a party.

For this reason, it’s a good idea tobring multiple sorcerers into this fight, as well as give Valkyrie a bow. It will take a while, butwhittling down the Dark Lord’s considerable health pool before he can ever attackwill make the fight far easier to deal with. To facilitate this,take out one of the Demons, but not the other - having only one to deal with will help.

Sap Power and Sap Guardwill help a lot with Dark Lord, but not enough to make him survivable for the majority of players.Spell Reinforcewill also help a lot - especially if you’re bringing multiple sorcerers. The description of the spell says that it can only be used once per battle, but this is not true.When it runs out, reapplyit.

When low on health, the Demons will spend every turn healing themselves, so try to rush them down and deal more damage than they can consistently heal. They can also castDeath Wish, which will almost kill a character instantly. Prepare for this by equipping Auto Item set up with healing items.

If you do not have multiple sorcerers trained up, do not worry!There is a simple way to deal with this battle with little fuss. It’ll look like this:

Shadzard

A greatsword that instantly kills enemies weak to lightning, but is also a decent sword in its own right. Far better than Jewelled Blade “Grimrist.”

Secrets of Zolon

Has no use, but can be converted into 15,000 Materialize Points.

Unicorn’s Horn

A staff that isn’t as good as the Wand of Apocalypse. Unless you use multiple sorcerers often, transmutate it into a nice 19,000 Materialize Points.
