If you’ve gone through the trouble of activating the best ending of the game inValkyrie Profile: Lenneth, Asgard Hill replaces the alternative final dungeon, which is Jotunheim Palace. This ending is far, far longer than Ending B, but this is thanks to all the cutscenes that you have to watch.

Valkyrie Profile Lenneth - Asgard Hill Enemy

The dungeon itself, Asgard Hill, is easily the most straightforward dungeon in the entire game. That isn’t to say it’s devoid of challenges, though - there are some very tough enemies and three entire boss fights to overcome before you’re allowed to see the credits roll.

Asgard Hill Overview

Asgard Hill is the dungeon you’ll have to complete if you want to getEnding A.Check out our guide to the Endings of the gameto see what the prerequisites are.

If you’ve completed all the prerequisites,Weeping Lily Meadow will show up during your Spiritual Concentrations in Chapter 8. As soon as you head there, you’re set on the path toward Asgard Hill and Ending A.

Valkyrie Profile Lenneth - Asgard Hill Climbing

52,000

None

43,400

As with all varieties of wraith, Charon can use the really annoying Whisp attack to deal a ton of damage. Other than that, though, not too bad to take down. Just be healed up before taking them on.

Valkyrie Profile Lenneth - Asgard Hill Bloodbane Fight

Ice

17,500

The bulkiest Fire Elementals in the game. Consider breaking out the Icicle Swords to take them out if you have them, otherwise, keep any fire-resistance items that you equipped for the fight against Bloodbane on. Very high RST, so magic isn’t that good, even with the weakness to ice.

Valkyrie Profile Lenneth - Asgard Hill Bloodbane Might Reinforce

37,100

Valkyrie Profile Lenneth - Asgard Hill Fenrir

Has very high RDM and will resurrect any of its fallen allies. Always make sure you take these out first.

Valkyrie Profile Lenneth - Asgard Hill Fenrir Fight

Holy

Exploiting their weakness to holy is a good idea, as they’re very bulky. Not that threatening overall, but their high HP makes them annoying enemies to face, especially with their very high faint rates.

Valkyrie Profile Lenneth - Asgard Hill Loki Fight

14,000

Poison

4,200

Poison Blow makes short work of them, and they’re not that threatening either way. They can deal a good chunk of damage, but they have no special tricks.

Bulkier and somewhat more threatening than their weaker brethren, but still not something you should be scared of.

Asgard Hill Walkthrough

Asgard Hill is little more than a boss rush- there aren’t even any treasure chests to find! You simply have to follow the linear path until you reach the few bosses in your way: Bloodbane, Fenrir, and finally, Loki himself.

You can Divine Items anywhere in Asgard Hill, so use this to stock up on the best healing items and Union Plumes if you ever run low.

You shouldgive all of your party members the Guts and Auto Item abilities, and set up the latter with high values forUnion Plumesand thehigher-tier healing items. This will help your survivability greatly, especially with a little bit of luck.

When you reach a second save point, you know that there’s a boss fight on the next screen.

How To Beat Bloodbane

Bloodbane is an optional boss in the final dungeon on the Ending B route but is amandatoryfight in this route.

220,000

140,000

Your opening move should be tobuff your party as soon as your sorcerer can-Might Reinforce and Spell Reinforcewill both help - ideally, you want this battle over and done with quickly so the boss can’t overwhelm you with its most powerful attacks.

Along with Guts and Auto Item, your survivability will increase dramatically if you equipprotection against fire damage- all of Bloodbane’s most powerful attacks are fire elemental.Stun Checkswill help greatly as they don’t take up valuable equipment slots, only decoration slots, and they’re cheap.

When low on health, Bloodbane will start usingmultiple attacks per turn. This is when you shouldbe more liberal with your healing, and considerusing items on your regular turnsinstead of relying on Auto Item.

When at critical health levels, Bloodbane usesGravity Blessing. Without Guts and good luck, you have very little hope of surviving this attack.

Try to save your Charge Gauges until you’ve taken Bloodbane down to around half health, and then unleash everything you have in the longest PWS attack chain that you can manage. With any luck, you’ll be able to eliminate Bloodbane’s remaining HP before he gets a chance to fire off a three-attack turn or Gravity Blessing.

For winning the fight, you get a chest containing the strongest sword in the main game,Demon Sword “Levantine.“Equip this to Valkyrie.

Continue making your way up Asgard Hilluntil you reach the next save point.

How To Beat Fenrir

Bloodbane could be fought in the alternate route, but Fenrir is exclusive to Asgard Hill.

250,000

Fire

175,000

Fenrir is weak to fire. This does mean that, yes, if you are playing on Hard mode and you picked up theInfernasfrom the Citadel of Flame, you candestroy him in one hit.

If you don’t have the Infernas, you’ll have to fight Fenrir normally. This battle isquite similar to the one against Bloodbane, but with ice attacks instead of fire - and you have the advantage of having theDemon Sword “Levantine"now. All in all, it’s probably a little easier to overcome than Bloodbane’s fight.

As before, buffing your party - especially with Might Reinforce- is a great idea as it’ll help you push past Fenrir’s more dangerous phases quicker. Again, the best way to deal with Fenrir’s desperation phases is tosave your Charge Gauges until you’ve taken him down to below half healthand then unleash the best PWS chain that you can manage. A good time to do this is when Fenrir starts usingHowling Hazard- a horribly powerful attack that targets the entire party.

Fenrir’s attacks can inflictfreeze, which is incredibly annoying. If you have theEternal Lamp, you can avoid this (though you’ll also have the Infernas in this case, making the fight a non-issue), or you can equipFreeze Checksto your entire party.

Try to get Fenrir to drop a chest if you can! He dropsAmbrosia, which improves a character’s DME by a whopping 6,000 points.

With the overgrown wolf dealt with, there’s justone more section of Asgard Hillto conquer.

400,000

210,000

Loki has the highest health value of any enemy outside of Seraphic Gate, the post-game dungeon, and he is every bit as threatening as you’d imagine.

When the battle first begins,Loki is almost invulnerable to all but the strongest physical attacks, and will only take damage from magic. After a few rounds, the battle pauses momentarily, and a cutscene plays out.

Once you’re back in the battle, the fight begins in earnest. Loki has some very scary abilities that deal damage to the entire party, such asExtension ForceandCarnage Anthem. You’ll want anice stock of Prime Elixirs and Noble Elixirs set up with Auto Item, so make sure youDivinesome before heading into this fight.

It’s worth noting thatone of Loki’s nastier attacks is Indiscriminate, which you might recognize if you completed Celestial Castle in Chapter 8. Set upReflect Sorcerywith your sorcerer to avoid this.

Your strategy for Loki should be largely the same as fighting Bloodbane and Fenrir.Buff your party up and then go to town on Loki, stopping to heal manually if needed. You’ll find that only Valkyrie’s physical attacks do a lot of damage - it seems that she has a piercing effect with her attacks now, your other melee characters are really only useful once buffed up withMight Reinforce, if even then.

Once Loki starts usingDragon Orb, you’ll need to start giving it everything you’ve got. If it doesn’t outright destroy your party, it’ll leave you on extremely low HP, and there are only so many Noble Elixirs in the world. This is a good time totime your Charge Gauge recovery to string together as many PWS attacks as possible.
