Alchemy, one of the classic professions that raiders have come to rely on, was just one of many that received such an upgrade. However, between the new specializations and the myriad amount of recipes to unlock, it can be overwhelming to try and parse through. As such, here’s everything you need to know about alchemy in Dragonflight.
Overview
Alchemy in World of Warcraft is therefinement of herbsgathered throughHerbalismintopotions and flasks, which have been renamed into phials. These consumables, which canheal or give a temporary boost to stats, bring a huge boon to any angle of content, including world content, PvP, and endgame raiding, making an alchemist’s products highly sought after.
However, Alchemy cannot function without the necessary herbs. Unless you want to hand over a fortune through the Auction Housefor quick reagents, it’s a good idea to pick upHerbalism as your second professionto gather them yourself.
If you have an alternate character that’s made for gathering and can mail the reagents over, you can pick up something that utilizes the ores that they mine as well, such asJewelcrafting or Blacksmithing.
Dragon Isles Alchemy can be taught by several trainers throughout the four new zones introduced in Dragonflight, but your main trainer will beConflago in Valdrakken, who can be found next to theArtisan’s Consortium.
You’ll be revisiting this area often, as you’ll be speaking toGohfyrrfor necessary items like Draconic Vials, and you’ll make use of theAlchemist’s Lab Benchfor several of the harder recipes.
Once you’ve acquainted yourself with Conflago and the alchemists' hub, it’s smart tocraftprofession equipmentfor yourself or buy it off the Auction House. Although you don’t necessarily need it to begin crafting your potions, it provides quality stats that you otherwise would not have.Like any other profession in WoW, alchemists can equipone tool and two accessories.
Tailoring
Alchemy Potions
Potionsare often considered the bread and butter of Alchemy. They’regenerallyeasier to craft than phials, but they’re eitherweaker or have a shorter duration, usually only lasting a few seconds. They can offer effects ranging from instant healing and mana regeneration to dealing damage after you’ve died or resurrecting yourself.

Basic or Advanced Potion Experimentation
Potion of Shocking Disclosure
Static surrounds the user, dealing a set amount of damage every five seconds to surrounding enemies, who cannot enter stealth for six seconds after being hit.
30 seconds
Bottled Putrescence
Can be thrown at an enemy to inflict a set amount of Nature damage.
Ten seconds
Basic or Advanced Potion Experimentation. Requires Alchemical Theory - Decayology
Residual Neural Channeling Agent
While the user is dead, this can be used to apply a DoT for a set amount of Nature damage. If the user is revived during the duration of the DoT, it becomes instant damage on the target.
18 seconds
Immediately available at level one.
Potion of Frozen Fatality
Used to mimic Feign Death, allowing enemies to ignore the user.
Five minutes
Potion of Withering Vitality
Instantly restores a set amount of health, but the user is slowly hurt over a period of time for the same amount healed.
15 seconds
Basic or Advanced Potion Experimentation Requires Alchemical Theory - Decayology
Potion of Frozen Focus
Restores mana over a period of time, but the user is defenseless while doing so.
Potion of Chilled Clarity
Reduces the cost of spells by 100 percent, but increases casting time by 40 percent.
Nine seconds
Basic of Advanced Potion Experimentation. Requires Alchemical Theory - Decayology.
Delicate Suspension of Spores
Used to resurrect someone and heal others for a period of time. Can be used on the user while dead.
Elemental Codex of Ultimate Power
The vast majority of potion recipes will come fromBasic Potion Experimentation or Advanced Potion Experimentation, the latter of which comes from deciding to specialize within thepotion talent tree. Basic Potion Experimentation is available from Conflago upon reachinglevel ten.
Keep in mind that if you attempt to spam experiments, it could result in an explosion, leaving you with almost no health and afour-hour cooldownon the ability.
Alchemy Phials
However, potions are just one side of Alchemy. The other side, phials, is what is valued and sought after byraiders and people invested in endgame content.Phialsarelong-lasting buffsthat usuallyincrease your stats. However, they are muchharder to makethan potions.
Air
Phial of the Eye of the Storm
The user’s primary stat is increased whenever an enemy deals damage to them, stacking up to five times.

Basic or Advanced Phial Experimentation
Aerated Phial of Quick Hands
Increases the user’s crafting speed of Dragon Isles recipes by 18 percent.
Artisan’s Consortium - Dragon Isles Branch - Respected
Phial of Still Air
If the user performs an action other than healing for five seconds, their next heal is boosted by a set amount.
Phial of Static Empowerment
Standing still will increase the user’s primary stat for five seconds. If the user moves, their Speed is increased instead.
Phial of Charged Isolation
The user’s primary stat is boosted the farther away they are from an ally.
Conflago
Iced Phial of Corrupting Rage
The user’s Critical Strike rating is increased by Corrupting Rage. If the user suffers 100 percent of their health in damage, Overwhelming Rage activates, which causes the user to take 25 percent of their health as a DoT for fifteen seconds instead.
Basic or Advanced Phial Experimentation. Requires Alchemical Theory - Decayology
Phial of Glacial Fury
The user has a chance to deal additional Frost damage when they first attack an enemy.
Phial of Icy Preservation
The user takes four percent less damage when over 50 percent health, but takes four percent more damage when under 50 percent health.
Elemental
Phial of Elemental Chaos
The user has a chance to boost a random secondary stat with a bonus effect every 60 seconds.
As was the case with potions, the vast majority of your phial recipes will come fromBasic Phial Experimentation or Advanced Phial Experimentation, the latter of which comes from deciding to specialize within thephial talent tree.
Basic Phial Experimentation is available atlevel ten, but know that it still bears thesame exact risks as experimenting with potions.

Alchemist Stones, Reagents, Transmutations, And More
While potions and phials are what alchemists are mostly known for, there are a few other recipes that don’t fall under either branch. These arereagents, cauldrons, alchemist stones, transmutations, and incense.
Reagents
Alchemists can craft a number of reagents. Some can be used in other Alchemy recipes, likeOmnium Draconisin experiments, while others are used bydifferent professionsfor their own recipes.

Primal Convergent
An element made by combiningAwakened Earth, Awakened Fire, Awakened Air, Awakened Frost, and Awakened Order.

Potion Absorption Inhibitor
Increases the duration of a potion by 50 percent or adds Unique-Equipped: Embellished.

Increases recipe difficulty while making the user more likely to improve.
Brood Salt
Increases the user’s Inspiration by a set amount and their Crafting Speed by 20 percent.

Cauldrons
Cauldrons are often used byraid or PvP groups. They can be deployed like a feast to grant every member abeneficial potion or effect.

How To Rank Up In Alchemy
to rise through the ranks of Alchemy, you must simply craft any potion or phials available to you. The grind fromlevel one to level 50isn’t bad and does not take long at all, especially if you have a good amount of herbs in supply already.
Alchemy Specializations
As you craft new potions and phials for the first time and do quests for your trainer, you’ll accumulate points calledDragon Isles Alchemy Knowledge. These are used to train yourself in certain specializations, of which there are three.
Bychoosing a talent tree to invest in, you’re able to unlock new passive abilitiesto help you create higher-quality consumables.
Potion Mastery
This first specialization,Potion Mastery, is self-explanatory. If you dedicate yourself to this tree, you’ll become a master of all things potions, able to craft them withhigher efficiency and quality. You’ll also be able tounlock a few unique recipes, such as thePotion Cauldron of Power.
Phial Mastery
Much like the first,Phial Masteryallows you to specialize in phials and long-lasting consumables. Not only will you be able to create phialsquickly with limited resources, but you’ll gain the chance tocreate multiple phials with one recipe.
Alchemical Theory
The last specialization,Alchemical Theory, is different from the others. It may not benefit your recipes right away, but instead, it allows you to discover and create further recipes, such as thetoxic potions and phials or Transmute: Order to Elements.
