Luckily, the game isn’t that sadistic - there are some great rewards that you’ll pick up as you progress through the Tomb, and the dungeon hasfivedifferent artifacts to pick up at the end, so those of you with low Evaluation Scores, beware. You’ll want to take them all.
Tombs Of Amenti Overview
This is as close to a marathon as you’ll get before you take on Seraphic Gate in the postgame. The Tombs of Amenti are sprawling, arduous, and filled with things to frustrate you.
22,000
None
2,800
Has very high RDM and can deal a huge amount of damage with its attacks, especially when low on health, it seems. Be very careful and try to destroy it in one round, using PWS attacks if you can.
35,000
22,400
If you fought Barbarossa in the previous chapter, you know what to expect. Uses a mix of physical and magical attacks, but isn’t too tough on its own.
15,000
Holy
2,100
Uses Frigid Damsel, but has very low magic, so you only have to worry about the possible freeze.
9,000
1,750
Pretty weak - with a multi-target spell these will fall quite easily, if your sorcerer has very high magic (equip an Ether Scepter and use Poison Blow for best results!).
19,000
1,670
Funeral Procession will deal damage to lots of your party at once, but has a high block rate, so be on the lookout for those counter opportunities.
10,000
Poison
2,240
Uses Frigid Damsel but has very high magic, so be prepared for high single-target damage.
There are lots oftrapped chestsin this dungeon, containing Undead Slaves. They’ll open the battle withFuneral Procession, seriously wearing down your health reserves - pack lots of Elixirs before coming here,
Acquiring The Blue Gem
The dungeon brings you frustrations right off the bat - the first room has a treasure chest that is inaccessible without some crystal platforming. It’s a sign of what’s to come. To reach the chest, make a crystal at the top of the door frame and burst it. Use the resultingfloating particleto create a platform to get up to the top. The chest contains three Undead Slaves and anEye of Heaven.
In thenext room to the right, repeat the crystal platform trickto reach another chest. This one contains aFlame Jewel. Once you have this, move one screen to the right.
There areflame trapscoming from the walls that will hamper your vertical movement in this room. You’ll have to time your jumps up to the top of the room very carefully, moving very quickly. Take theexit to the leftat the top of the room to find a room containing some tough foes and a chest containing someBase Metal.
If you haven’t already got one, transmutating the Base Metal into a Crack Ringis a very good idea here.
Return one screen, drop down to the floor, and press on to the right until you reach a set of stairs.Be careful when jumping across the gap at the top of the stairs, there is a spike trap that falls periodically, ready to catch you.
On the next screen to the left, you’ll have tojump between two spike trapsthat will smash you when you get between them. To get through this room, activate the spike trapsby getting between them quickly, and thenmove underneath the one on the leftbefore it resets back into position.
Use aladder of crystalsto move up the wall on the left, and thenplatform over to the right using the floating blocks. Beware afalling spike trapon the upper block, which will attempt to stop you from jumping over to the left.
In thenext room to the left, kill theDullahanand take theexit to the front. Headup the stairs on the right, and then jump up to the floating block. There’s a very large spike block moving from side to side above you -jump upto activate it, and then wait for the shadow to pass you before quicklyleaping up to the top. In the next room, examine the Blue Gemto acquire it.
The door to the room will shut when you pick the Gem up. To open it, you need toactivate the pressure platethat the Gem was on bycreating a crystalon it and then breaking it. Leave the room, and thenuse crystals to leap up to the top of the second spike trap at the top of the room. From here, you can jump up to the chest containing aMithril Plate.
Acquiring The Red Gem
Drop to the bottom of the room andpress on to the right. In this room, there arejets of flamesto avoid, and a chest containing an explosion trap and aStone Check. In the next room to the right, drop down to the floor and then headleftto find another room with fire jets.
Keep going to the leftand you’ll find a tall room with asave point. Save your game here to be safe, and then continue climbing the room, taking thefirst exit on the right.
In this room, your passage is blocked by amassive stone headmoving toward you. To get past, you need to firstcrouch right next to it and hit it with your sworduntil its chin breaks, and thenhit it while standingto break its lower jaw. With that done, you canslide dash underneath. The chest behind the head contains an arrow trap and aReisist Magicskill book, which would be useful for satisfying one of the Chapter 7 einherjar requirements.
Return to the room with the save pointand this time, take thelower exit to the left. In this room, you’ll be blocked by two spike walls.Hitting the lower onewill stop it in its tracks, so do that as soon as you enter the room, and thenwait for the top one to pass over your head. You canjump over the spike trap. The trap reactivates after a few seconds, so keep hitting it until you’re ready to jump over. The chest at the top of the room hasRuin’s Fate, a sword.
Headtwo screens to the right. Here, jump onto the top of the spiked blockand ride it to the other side and do the same in the next room, getting the Iron Ore while you’re there.
In the next room, slide dash underneath the spiked block, usecrystalsto get up to the floating cube, and thenuse the spiked block as a platformup to the top level.Take the exit to the rightto continue, then drop to the floor and take therear exit. Platform up to the top and thenhead left.
In this room filled with spiked blocks, run along the blocksand drop to the floor, then headfurther left. In this next room, there’s a chest containingMithril Oreabove you, so use crystals to get up there - you can use a temporary particle platform by shooting crystals at the top of the entranceway.
With the Mithril Ore acquired, return to the room with the four huge spiked blocks.Use crystals to get back on top of them, and continue retracing your steps to thenext room to the right. Dropdownto the ground, andtake the exit to the right- in this room is a chest containing aLucerne Hammer.
Take thelower exit to the leftto find a room filled with monsters - thedoorway on the lefthas a monster chest on top containing aUnicorn Horn, which can be transmutated into a great staff.
There arethree exits to the frontin this next room - take themiddleone. On this screen, you’ll have to do some incredibly finicky platforming.
In this room, use crystals to climb up the right walland then leap across to the left exit at the top.Press onthrough the next room, picking up theWassail-Rapieralong the way, and then save your game when you reach thesave point.
Continue on through the roomsuntil you reach another tall room.Platform up to the top and take the left exit.
In this room, you’ll find theRed Gemon the ground. Pick it up and then open the door up again with crystal shards.Leave the room by using crystals to platform up.
Reaching The Boss
Drop down to the bottom of the long room and take the left exit. Deal with the giant head as you did the previous one and then press on - it’s a rather linear path.
When you reach atall room with birdsin it, drop to the bottom andtake the left exit. Avoid theheadsin these rooms - touching one will teleport back a bit.
If you get teleported, don’t worry - justattack all three heads until they break on the right wallto open the door, and then justhead to the leftand you’ll be in the tall room with the birds again.
The path forward is still linear, but you’ll have to be mindful of thefloating heads. Along the way, you’ll find a chest containing aFlame Jewel.
When you reach theroom filled with spiked blocksand enemies, carefully make your way to the exit on thebottom leftto get aBasilisk Scale, and then return to go to the exit on thebottom rightfor aLapis Lazuli.
With those acquired, start using the spike traps to get to the top-left exit. The best way is to use theleftmost horizontal block(that has a monster on it), then leap onto the next horizontal block, before falling onto the thin vertical block. From there, jump over, being sure to open the chest at the top of the doorway to find some monsters and aGuard Reinforcespell book.
Head to the front in the next roomand continue on the linear path until you reach avery large room with a staircase and a huge doorwaywith a chest on top. The chest contains aRaven Slayer.
Continue on to the right, saving the game as you go, until you reach a room in which you are given ariddle. The answers are all identical, so you’ll pass either way. Leave through the newly opened door.
In this room, open the chest to get anEther Scepter, andinteract with the pedestalto place your Gems.
How To Beat Akhetamen
Akhetamen is backed up bytwo Undead Slaves, so you’ll have to take this battle section by section.
130,000
140,000
Akhetamen is a very accomplishedspellcasterand will open the fight by castingReflect Sorcery. This will make it impossible to destroy the Undead Slaves with a Mystic Cross.
Akhetamen has access toSeraphic Law, one of the Purify Weird Soul spells. It’ll deal a ton of damage, so be sure to equip yourholy-resisting itemsbefore taking this battle on. You should have plenty, as long as you’ve been stocking up on artifacts.
As you’re waiting for the Reflect Sorcery to run out, your sorcerer is best put to usebuffing your allies or waiting to use a Heal. Alternatively, have them use aReflect Sorceryof their own.
The Undead Slaves are the same as ever, so they should be very easy to beat. Once they’re down, you can start chipping away at Akhetamen.
WithHeal,Noble Elixirs, andgood equipment, you shouldn’t have trouble staying healthy in this fight. The problem is thatAkhetamen also has Heal, and he’ll use it once he gets below 50 percent HP. Try tosave your Purify Weird Souls for a grand barrage that begins with a powerful holy spell.
Alternatively, you may use theHoly Water of Mithra to deal 100,000 damage outright- this won’t one-shot the boss, though, sodeal at least 30,000 damage to him first. You can get the Holy Water of Mithra either from theCitadel of Flameor bytransmutating the Tear of the Cosmos from the Sunken Shrine.
No uses other than being converted to 17,250 Materialize Points.
Mask of the Dead King
A mask with a lot of RDM, but makes the wearer weak to holy attacks.
Bracelet of Basilisk
Protects heavily against poison attacks.
