It seems that there’s no rest for the wicked - right after celebrating the defeat of an evil tyrant, it seems that there’s another who sees fit to lay waste to the survivors of Athia. Chapter 7 ofForspokenhas Frey traveling to a new area, complete with new tasks to complete and items to acquire.

This time, she’s off to Avoalet with the intention to procure some very important tree sap for Robian, who needs it to stay sane. This is, of course, the region ruled by Tanta Prav - will Frey be able to stay away from her?
A New Day
Once you regain control of Frey, follow the map marker ahead of you until you see a cutscene with Auden. After this, you have some newfeatures, events, and detoursto find!
Open the map and talk to find the locations of the following events:The Cat Lover, Milia & Wallace, Olevia’s Cat, and the Tavernkeeper. Each event you complete grants you a small chunk of experience.
To the east in the upper city, you’ll find that the residents of Cipal have moved all the sheep upstairs. In this small area, you’ll find someone who willtrade for your Poppets.For more information, check out this guide. Near the Poppet Trader is theBook Collector, in case you want to pick any of those up.
Detour: Sila’s Pact
Head to the archives and talk to Johedyto begin this Detour. She will look at theOdvaha Orethat you picked up outside Praenost Castle Town in the previous chapter, and say that she can make you something with it if you retrieve her tools.
Fast Travel to Middle Praenost- the nearest fast travel point is the Western Refuge if you have that registered. Once you’re in Praenost, head toward the map marker, which is located in the village ofPronoia. Once there, enter the workshop andpick up the Smithing Kit inside.

When you leave the workshop,you’ll be attacked by five Recreant Knights all at once. This is a very hectic fight, so do your best to take the knights out one by one. Use the buildings around the area to your advantage - try and get the Recreant Knights alone as you wear them down, trying to fight multiple in close quarters is far more difficult than it ought to be.
Once the battle is over,return to Cipaland go back to the archives. Talk to Johedy to give her the Smithing Kit, and she provides you with theNemeni Prisahanecklace in return.
Detour: Helping The Broken
When you leave the archives after the previous Detour, you’ll overhear a man talking aboutAudenand how hard she’s been working to care for the sick.Head to the council chambers and talk to her. This begins the Detour, which involves doing some tasks for Auden.
First,care for the three sick people in the council chamber atrium- just talk to them to complete this task. You’ll be prompted to choose some answers, but your choice doesn’t matter - choose whatever feels best.
Once you’ve tended to the sick, you’ll be prompted to gofetch some food rations.Follow the map markerout of the council chambers and towards the person responsible for rations - it turns out there’s one more step to this quest.Follow the new map markerto the person handing out the rations and talk to him.
The rest of this quest carries out automatically, but a conversation with Councilman Treahy will get you a secondary objective - toobtain some Giril for Auden.
Finding Robian And Leaving The City
You’ll find Robian in the same place you found him a few chapters ago - in theHarkiska Grove near the large ballow tree. Talk to him there to witness a scene and get your next primary objective:to obtain some sap from a ballow tree in Avoalet.
Right after the scene,talk to Robianagain for an event. When prompted,the correct answer isAuden. As a reward, you’ll get some experience and theKey to the Keen Home.
Exploring Avoalet
With your objective now clear, it’s time tohead into Avoaletand start making your way toward the south, where the ballow trees grow.
In The Blessed Hills, make your way to the map marker, where you’ll find aZip pointthat leads directly to the first area of Avoalet. Zip your way up the wall and start exploring this new, brighter area.

You’ll be heading through four areas at the very least - check out the guides below to see what points of interest you can expect to find in them:
We recommend doing the following to get the most out of your journey to the ballow trees, without being too exhaustive:
- InThe Water Garden, grab the Soar spell from the Rosewood Fount and complete Fort Eminn and Pastorale Courthouse for the experience.
InThe Fountainfields, head to Colline and complete the encounter there to get a necklace that boosts Blue Magic, which is the next variety you’ll acquire.
InThe Untrodden Forest, clear the Ruins of Calme to get the Amped nail design, which is great for taking on large groups of enemies.
As you make your way through Avoalet, you’ll be funneled towards twobridges, both of which have scripted encounters on them. They are your introductions to two new enemies: TheUnjust Enforcerand thePitiless Arbiter.

These enemies are easily taken down, but they’re alsovery mobile and have pinpoint accuracy. When there are multiple Enforcers around, you’ll be beset by tons of their arrows at once, so you’ll need to be on your guard and attempt to complete most of the fight whilst Flowing.

A lot bulkier and a lot more dangerous than the Enforcers, the Pitiless Arbiter actually hastwo forms. In its usual form, it’s weak to Sila’s Magic. When it brings out a huge axe made of ice, however, it becomes far more aggressive and gains a resistance to all of Frey’s attacks. Make sure you try to eliminate these enemies during their vulnerable phases.
The first encounter with these new enemies will net you a niceStamina increase, while the second gets you a heftyexperience boost.
Continue on to the south, straying from the path to complete whichever tasks you want, until you reachAvoalet Castle Town in The Misty Shore.
When you reach the southernmost tip of The Fountainfields, you’ll have to dive through some Depths of Corruption, just like you did in Praenost.
Avoalet Castle Town
Once you reach this area, you’ll be stopped by a cutscene. Afterwards, head toward the ballow tree in the center of the town and examine it to find it empty. You’ll be prompted to find new ballow trees to try and tap for sap.
There are three ballow trees to find - all of them will be marked on your map at once. The top two trees will not work - only by reaching and interacting with the third will you be able to move on to the next part of the story. When you get close to it, though, you’ll be attacked by a large group of Kelaino. You should be used to dealing with these by now - just use Sila’s Magic to destroy them.
Be careful when navigating the cliffside in The Misty Shore - a drop will mean a long climb back up, and might even drop you right in the lap of a Mutant.
After tapping the third tree, you’ll find that you don’t have enough sap. Time to move on to find some more - to do this, you’ll have to pass through Saray Gate.
Inside Saray Gate, you’ll be attacked by a group of Unjust Enforcers and Pitiless Arbiters. You should be used to fighting these by now - just eliminate the Enforcers first, so you can give the Arbiters your full attention. When you win the fight, you’ll gain another Stamina boost.
Samum Coast
After coming out the other side of Saray Gate, you’ll be in the Samum Coast area, which is full of huge, floating islands.Your goal is on one of the lower islands, but be careful when you make your way down - it’s easy to stumble and end up losing health to the bottomless drop.
A Breakstorm will appear when you get closer to the massive ballow tree - don’t rush straight for your goal, though. Instead,head to the Western Refuge nearby and rest up. Make sure you have afull supply of Healing Draughts, you’re in for some tough fights soon.
When you get nearer the ballow tree, you’ll be attacked by aRiven Claw. This is an intimidating-looking enemy, but you should be able to destroy it quickly with some Sila attacks.
Once the Breakstorm is over,examine the ballow treeto get all the sap you need. The chapter ends here, with Frey resolving to confront Tanta Prav.
