Both games have amazing features that are unique to themselves, which can offer you a different perspective on the world of Final Fantasy 7. However, we’ve got you covered with our pick of whether Crisis Core Reunion or Final Fantasy 7 Remake is better.

6Combat - Final Fantasy 7 Remake

The combat in Final Fantasy 7 Remake is masterful. With some of the best combat available in any game on the market, Remake offers a plethora of different weapons, materia, and accessories to utilize. While Crisis Core Reunion’s combat is spectacular itself, it doesn’t compare to Final Fantasy 7 Remake. The DMW system, while unique, has its downsides and limits the use of Limit Breaks. Staggering in Remake to build your Limit gauge is satisfying and offers many options for approaching enemies. The improvements to the combat systemsin Crisis Core Reunion made itone of the best games available in 2022; however, it just does not hit the same highs Remake does.

Another huge reason for picking Remake’s combat system is the number of playable characters. Final Fantasy 7 Remake allows you to play as each member of your party, which is incredibly rewarding. Cloud, Tifa, Aerith, and Barret all have unique combat systems that are completely independent of one another. The different move sets are all very fun to use, and with real-time switching mid-combat, you can expect to use each character’s abilities to your advantage.

5Characters - Tie

Both Crisis Core Reunion and Final Fantasy 7 Remake have exceptionally written characters. The characters of Crisis Core Final Fantasy 7 Reunion are mostly found in Final Fantasy 7 Remake; however, most of these characters are given the depth they were not in Remake. Zack Fair’s characterization is amazing and gives some vividness to Aerith, who becomes a main party member in Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake, on the other hand, develops characters such as Tifa and Cloud, who appear in Crisis Core, intensively. Additionally, new characters such as Biggs, Jessie, and Wedge join the scene for more fleshed out characrerization. Both of these titles have amazing characters you will find yourself thinking about long after the credits roll.

4Music - Final Fantasy 7 Remake

Crisis Core Final Fantasy 7 Reunion has a great soundtrack that is newly arranged and remastered from the original release. It is everything you’d expect from a game with Zack Fair as the protagonist and elevates the mood that is created through the narrative.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake features one of the best scores in recent memory. Classic, memorable songs from the original game are recreated with glorious passion, leading to songs like The Airbuster or Scorpion Sentinel being full of intense moments and powerful melodies. Additionally, plenty of entirely new tracks were created for Remake, such as High Five, which plays as a battle theme when Aerith and Cloud are in the Sector 6 Collapsed Expressway. While both of these games offer incredible soundtracks, Final Fantasy 7 Remake is a step above Crisis Core with the volume and disparity alone.

3Visuals - Final Fantasy 7 Remake

Crisis Core Final Fantasy 7 Reunion falls short in this department, but it is understandable why.Square Enixwent above and beyond remastering the PSP title with models that look extremely similar to those found in Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Where Reunion falls short is the lighting and character animations. When you play the game, it is clear that it is a PSP remaster from that alone, but it is still a great-looking game. Some characters do not have as big of an expression range as the ones in Final Fantasy 7 Remake, but they get the job done.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake excels with its visuals and offers dynamic character animations through its hours of cutscenes. For a title that was originally released on thePlayStation 4, it is one of the best-looking games of the entire generation. The character models are extremely detailed and display all sorts of emotions. The lighting is also extremely impressive, with different environments shown off depending on whether you were under or on top of one of the plates found in Midgar.

2Narrative - Tie

It is impossible to choose between these two titles in terms of story. One is a prequel to the other, and the other is only a fraction of the larger story in the works. Both Crisis Core Reunion and Final Fantasy 7 Remake offer exceptional stories you can easily find yourself getting lost in. It is truly a testament to the minds of Tetsuya Nomura, Kazushige Nojima, Yoshinori Kitase, and Hironobu Sakaguchi.

Crisis Core Reunion offers a complete story that ends right as Final Fantasy 7 begins. Final Fantasy 7 Remake reimagined the story of Final Fantasy 7, with the story up to the escape from Midgar being completely remade. The Remake Project will take the world of Final Fantasy 7 Remake to new places, with the ending hinting that the “unknown journey will continue.” Either one of these titles is a true joy to experience.

1Verdict - Final Fantasy 7 Remake

While Crisis Core Final Fantasy 7 Reunion is a fantastic title, our pick goes to Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Cloud, Tifa, Aerith, and Barret’s journey through Midgar is one of the most memorable experiences of the 2020s so far, with incredible voice acting and dazzling set pieces.

The real joy of Remake is what lies on the horizon with Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, which is set to take the story into the unknown. You cannot go wrong with either of these titles; however, Final Fantasy 7 Remake is looking towards the future with its larger-than-life story, impeccable combat, and phenomenal characters.
