Destiny 2is a great looter shooter that has been out for several years. It is a successor to the original Destiny, and it comes with a vast universe and sprawling lore. Both titles have dominated the looter shooter market, leading other game companies to try becoming the ‘Destiny killer’, but they have all failed.

With all the changes made to the sequel, like the controversial seasonal model, subclasses 3.0, and theaddition of weapon crafting, it’s easy to forget about characters that have mysteriously disappeared or haven’t revealed themselves.
10Brother Vance
In Season of Arrivals, when Guardians were concerned with a mysterious fleet in the system, we had no idea about their intentions. This fleet positioned itself around four specific planets. A whole season was dedicated to learning about their motives.
In acutscene that kicked off Beyond Light, Guardians learned of their failure to save those planets and the residents, like Brother Vance on Mercury. Aside from the lore books which talk about Brother Vance and the Cult of Osirisretreating into the Infinite Forest, it’s unclear if he still lives. Will Bungie bring him back to help the Witness come to Lightfall? Good question.
9Asher Mir
Io was home to Asher Mir, a scientist who did not obstruct his research by remaining inside a building. He set up camp behind a small ridge near a vast open area. In the Season of Arrivals,Asher tried to shoot at the pyramid fleet, which surprisingly had no effect. Once that failed, he tried other ideas. But, when nothing appeared to work, he surmised that they had come for secrets of the Vex. Asher vowed to protect those secrets.
In order to do that, Asher came up with a plan andhe entered the Pyramidion. He noticed several fractaline contradictions and pulled one down to him. The problem is that the lore books don’t say if he survived, and it’s a question that we’ve been pondering since Beyond Light was released.
8Commander Sloane
On Titan, we consulted a human titan named Commander Sloane. Nearing the end of the Season of Arrivals, Sloane refused to let Titan fall to the pyramids, so she remained there to fight back against the Darkness until it overtook the planet. We tried to convince her one final time to come with us, but she refused. Sloane had stolen technology from Savathun to use against the Darkness in an epic final stand.
Even though Sloane’s efforts were noble, her ultimate fate is questionable as there is no explicit explanation for any of the planets engulfed by the Darkness.
7Camrin
In Destiny’s history, the legendary Ana Bray was in a committed relationship. Though it’s not explicitly stated within the game, her partner is seen in theDestiny comic books. Her name was Camrin, and she was not fortunate enough to be given the Light. Camrin knew Ana well enough to know what her goals were, and she had set her partner on a path to find the warmind named Rasputin. This led Ana to Mars.

You might not be familiar with Camrin as her name is never explicitly mentioned in the game. The only way to know of her existence is by extrapolating the information from voice lines. When idling next to Ana Bray on Mars, she would say things like, “If she was here, this would be so much easier.” At the time, no one knew who ‘she’ referred to, but based on the comics, it was likely in reference to her late partner Camrin, who died before Ana travelled to Mars.
6Andal Brask
You might have heard about Andal Brask. He was the hunter Vanguard before Cayde-6 in the series. Back then, Andal Brask and Cayde-6 came up with the ‘Vanguard Dare’. Between them, whoever was successful in killing Taniks became immune to the vacant Vanguard position. Cayde-6 seemed to be successful in killing the Elksni, which left Andal Brask in the role.
Before Destiny began, Andal Brask was no longer the hunter Vanguard. It begs the question, what happened to him? As it turns out, Cayde-6 never killed Taniks in the first place! This led the Elksni on a mission to murder Andal. Ultimately, Taniks was successful. Poor Andal.
5Executor Hideo
Executor Hideo was the head of the New Monarchy faction on the Tower. He was stationed there as the original Crucible representative. Hideo sold gear and emblems meant for use in the playlist activities, although he did not wear anything close to the Guardians.

You might remember him because he was on the Tower at the beginning of the Red War right up until the Season of the Splicer. After that, the three faction heads questioned the Vanguard leadership because of the Darkness and this led the New Monarchy faction to leave.
4Arach Jalaal
Similar to the New Monarchy leader, Arach Jalaal was head of the Dead Orbit faction. Unlike Hideo, who remained neutral to the different Guardians, Jalaal hated anyone that was not human - despite him being Awoken.
When Beyond Light launched, the three faction leaders attempted to persuade other Guardians to fight for an unwavering belief in the Light instead of latching on to the Darkness powers of Stasis. The three factions failed and as a result, the Dead Orbit group left the Tower in search of a place uncorrupted by Darkness.
3Tyra Karn
Before Beyond Light was released, Destiny 2 had plenty of planets, strikes, and raids to visit and conquer. Back when the Tower was still known as the Traveller, there was a starter area on the EDZ where you began your journey. Among the NPCs located, there was a woman named Tyra Karn.

Tyra Karn was the lore keeper for the Iron Lords before she established the Cryptarchy. During the events of the Red War, she sought refuge at The Farm, which served as a hub for new players. Once Beyond Light was launched with a New Light quest line, the Farm became irrelevant, and it vanished. It is unclear about the fate of Tyra and the other people stationed at the Farm.
2The Speaker
During the Red War, there is a famous cutscene between Dominus Ghaul, The Consul, and The Speaker. Ghaul interrogated The Speaker about acquiring the Light from the Traveller. When The Speaker offered no useful answers, Ghaul and The Consul fought about their priorities, which led The Consul to take action and The Speaker to end up flat on the ground.
You might not know if The Speaker died during this argument unless you found a specific scannable object on the Tower. It says that he is ‘gone,’ but it doesn’t say he’s dead. Given that characters have returned from death before, we don’t actually know the truth. Plus, the Speaker hasn’t been mentioned since the Season of the Splicer, so is he actually gone?
1Shin Malphur
Every hunter used to regularly see an image of Shin Malphur on the subclass screen before Solar 3.0. Though, you might have forgotten about him because he is known by several names like Dredgen Vale and The Gunslinger.
At the time, you might not have made the connection between the Gunslinger subclass picture and Shin, because we’ve never actually seen him. While he is mentioned several times in the lore books, Shin’s goal is to keep Guardians from succumbing to the Darkness. But, now that we wield both, will he try to come for us during Lightfall?
