BioWarehas shed some light on some of the gameplay features coming toDragon Age: Dreadwolf, mostly focusing on new RPG systems and character building. Sadly, the team is still not ready to show any gameplay footage, so we’ll need to wait until the proper reveal.

In an officialblog post, system designer Luke Barrett revealed that Dreadwolf continues the studio’s efforts to make each installment feel and play unlike the previous one. That’s why the fourth entry will allow players to aim for their “player fantasy” and make a plan for the perfect build early on. Features like a detailed stats page will also come in handy for RPG enthusiasts, quickly summing up all your current bonuses from character progression and items.

Character progression in Dreadwolf should be as impactful as possible, offering a new skill tree that grants tangible effects on gameplay with each skill point you gain. When progressing, you’ll spend your skill points on new perks and abilities, and each purchase should feel meaningful so that nothing feels like a useless upgrade needed just to reach “real” game changers. In addition, this system will allow your character to grow in multiple ways and not just in terms of stats, but the devs didn’t share any details for now.

The design team also pursued the idea of a skill tree’s flexibility, allowing the players to fully navigate it regardless of their investments and get a clear understanding of what each skill grants. As a result, you should always know how many levels you need until you get what you want. Players will be able to create a variety of viable builds in conjunction with loot bonuses and establish their own desired playstyle in Dreadwolf.

According to the blog, UX designers at BioWare worked hard to make the game’s skill tree simple and illustrative so that it won’t overwhelm the player with possibilities. “It was key to our team to take something that is usually complex and make it accessible and simple to read,” lead UX designer Bruno Porrio said.

Earlier, a batch of videosshowcasing Dragon Age: Dreadwolf’s combat leakedonline, offering a brief look at the game’s fast combat systemthat clearly took some inspiration from Dragon Age 2. Hopefully, BioWare will be ready to show off the gameplay in the coming months.
