The strengths and weaknesses of these classes are what set them apart and makes them either viable or not so useful. With the addition of the Ranger class, it becomes apparent that one of these classes has to reign supreme above all the others.

5Ranger

The newest class to be added to the roster, the Ranger isa stealth-based approach to the game. The primary ability of this class is aptly named Stealth, which makes you invisible for four seconds and deploys a decoy at your previous location. Activating Stealth recharges the secondary ability of the class, a throwable javelin that replaces the typical melee attack of an FPS.

It also fills the passive ability of the Ranger, a meter called Awareness that increases critical hit damage by two percent for each point of focus you passively generate. The class is fun, but it lacks the stopping power necessary to remain effective in later levels. The critical damage increase isn’t incredibly game-changing either, and a nearly identical bonus can be obtained through upgrades in other classes. All in all, it’s a fun but impractical class.

4Commando

The Commando is an offense-oriented class that tailors to high DPS. The primary skill is a launchable rocket that can be upgraded in a variety of ways through leveling up. The melee ability of the class is called Shorty and is a short-ranged shotgun blast that is incredibly versatile and can even become a medium-range laser beam through upgrades. For a passive ability, the Commando uses Frenzy, a skill reliant on Fury charges that are generated upon an enemy takedown.

Each point of fury increases reload speed, fire rate, Shorty and Rocket attack speeds by one percent, and movement speed by 0.5 percent. It stacks only to 12 points, so the bonus is limited and hardly noticeable in the midst of combat. The Rocket and Shorty can be useful with the right upgrades, but the Commando kit just feels so basic compared to all the other bot classes.

3Recon

The Recon class excels at close-quarters combat and can quickly close the gap using the class’s primary ability, Blink. Blink teleports you forward a short distance and causes an impact at your destination that stuns the surrounding enemies, making it a useful tool when you need to grab far-away healing cells or take out a pesky shield generator. The Blink skill can also be upgraded to have an elemental explosion on impact like Cryo or Shock.

The Laser Dagger is the secondary skill that drops an additional healing cell on an enemy takedown. Takedowns also generate one charge and upon reaching a full five charges, it turns the standard slice into Overslash. Overslash deals 200 percent increased damage, which is perfect for taking out a heavier target. The class is fun if you’re into close-quarters encounters, but it can be risky to play since you’ll be up close in your fights.

2Engineer

The Engineer class focuses on summoningBuddy Drones using scrap obtained with the classes melee ability, the Scrap Blaster. The Buddy Drones shoot at enemies, dealing six damage per second, and can prove to be an excellent distraction while you reposition or grab healing cells. The Scrap Blaster causes three bits of Scrap to drop upon hitting an enemy robot. The scrap can be used to then reduce the cooldown of the Summon-Buddies skill, allowing for your robot army to grow extremely quickly.

When at maximum drones, you can heal them to max health by simply using the Summon-Buddies skill again. It should be noted that, in multiplayer, the drones will continue fighting if you go down, which can provide much-needed support to the other player still fighting. Pair this class with the Blowtorch gadget for increased revive speed, and you have one of the best support classes available.

1Guardian

The Guardian fills the tank role of Roboquest and has the best survivability of all the classes. The primary and most useful skill of the class, Safety Bubble, provides a bubble shield around you that renders you invulnerable for up to three seconds. It works great in conjunction with Bash, the classes' melee skill that drop an additional healing cell upon a takedown.

Safety Bubble can be perfect for getting protection while reviving a teammate in multiplayer or healing scratch damage if you’ve upgraded the ability. Another shining feature of the class is the passive ability, Top Quality, which increases gun damage by 15 percent for the first 33 percent of the magazine. The class is incredibly powerful with the right upgrades and can turn the tide of a fight in seconds thanks to its hard-hitting Bash and Top Quality features.
