TheNintendo Switchfirst launched in March 2017. In the same year, new iterations ofThe Legend of ZeldaandSuper Marioseries were released. Since then, games of all shapes and sizes have come to Nintendo’s hybrid console. Alongside these popular series came remasters of older Nintendo games, and a plethora of independent and third party games.

The Nintendo Switch has proven itself versatile and popular, despite hardware limitations compared to other platforms. But not every game has stood the test of time like Mario and Zelda, some of the best games to have released on the platform have since been forgotten about. Here are our favorites.
10Katana Zero
Katana Zerois a side scrolling, hack and slash game where you play as an assassin, living in a cyberpunk future. It’spart platformer, part RPG, part action. You’ll be draped in neon lighting and shadow while visiting your therapist to dwell on your actions.
As an independent game, its reach was limited. Katana Zero was released on other platforms, but much of its promotion and marketing was connected to Nintendo Directs. Its short length and fast-paced combat, as well as its vintage visuals, make it most suited to the Switch. The length also meant that upon completion many have since forgotten about it.
9Yoshi’s Crafted World
There are hundreds of platform games available on the Nintendo Switch. Those with Mario or Zelda in the title are the most popular and highly regarded. Anything with another mascot in the lead role, even a Nintendo exclusive one, does not fare as well, andYoshi’s Crafted Worldis a prime example of that.
Yoshi games, much likeKirbygames, are often seen as platformers for children. They offer simple mechanics and colorful, appealing visuals, with straightforward puzzles and little challenge. Because of this, Yoshi’s colorful adventure never stuck around long in people’s mind’s.
8Tetris 99
Tetris 99is a battle royal version of the classic, fast-paced puzzle game. In it, 99 players battle their way through ever increasingly difficult games of Tetris. The last player standing wins.
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker started life as aWii Ugame before being ported to the Nintendo 3DS. Eventually, a Nintendo Switch remaster was released, bringing the quirky platforming and puzzle game to a much larger audience.

Captain Toad is by many, seen as simply a supporting character in the far more successful Mario games. The fact that this was a remaster of an older game, and Captain Toad’s appeal was already limited, means that this Switch game has since been forgotten by many.
6Deadly Premonition 2: A Blessing in Disguise
Deadly Premonition 2is the long-awaited sequel and prequel toDeadly Premonition. Sadly, it was only long awaited by the cult following of the original game, and it failed to grow its audience beyond the already established one.
It’s an open-world, survival horror game all about solving a mysterious murder. It has been forgotten about not only because it didn’t appeal to a large enough audience, but also because it garnered mixed reviews - many of which compared it poorly to the prior iteration and most pointed out its technical issues.
5Snipperclips
Snipperclips was one of the earliest games to release on the Nintendo Switch. It was a co-op platform, puzzle game designed around the idea of cutting and trimming your character’s shape and body, in order to interact with the environment and solve the puzzle.
Snipperclips was well received and because of the limited array of releases when the Switch launched, it had its moment. However, in the years that followed, this is a game that has been forgotten, with no signs of a sequel in the works either.
4BoxBoy! + BoxGirl!
BoxBoy! is primarily associated with the Nintendo 3DS. It’s a puzzle platform series all about generating boxes to traverse your way to the end of the level. This first Nintendo Switch iteration of the series also introduced multiplayer gameplay.

The game was released to good reviews, with praise aimed at its inclusion of a female box, as well as the new multiplayer mechanics. It has become forgotten though, with no indication of a sequel on the way and attention going to more renowned mascot lead puzzle platformers.
31-2 Switch
For many, 1-2 Switch was the first game they bought for the Nintendo Switch. It’s a multiplayer party game utilizing the gyroscopic, motion controls of the Joycons. Players battle it out in duels, bowling, milking cows and more motion related mini-games.
1-2 Switch is primarily a party game. It’s something you play with a group of friends or family on special occasions. It is therefore not a game you keep going back to or keep talking about. Once you’ve played all the mini-games it has to offer, there is little else to do. As a result,It has since been forgotten about, thanks to a plethora of other party games that have been released on the platform.
2ARMS
Armsis a game designed to utilize the gyroscopic, motion controls much like 1-2 Switch, but also designed to be played more competitively and more regularly. It’s a fighting game, where players battle it out with one another, flinging their actual arms back and forth, controlling the fists of the in-game character.
Like many games of its ilk, ARMS had its moment but as soon as the novelty of its mechanics wore off, so too did its appeal. ARMS did develop a fanbase though, with many championing it, but many more forgetting it ever existed.
1Pokken Tournament DX
Pokken Tournamentwas originally released in Japanese Arcades in 2015. It’s a fighting game all about battlingPokemon. The arcade versions of the game proved to be unprofitable because of the length of a single battle, so the game was eventually ported onto the Wii U.
It was then ported over to the Nintendo Switch, with new character models and enhanced visuals in 2017. Like many Pokemon games, Pokken Tournament sold well and reviewed well, but this one did not draw a large audience. It has since been forgotten about, in favor of newer, more modern and traditional Pokemon games.
