With such a unique look and premise, it may be hard to find other games that are quite like Octopath Traveler II once you complete the game. Thankfully, there are a handful of titles that will scratch a similar itch, should this beautiful adventure leave you wanting more. Here are some of our favorites.
8Live A Live
There are few games thatcan be compared as directlyto the Octopath Traveler series asLive A Live.On top of sharing the HD-2D art style that the original Octopath Traveler popularized, Live A Live is also structured similarly to the two games.
Live A Live features several different storylines to jump into, with each one taking place in an entirely different era and setting. This gives the game even more variety than what’s present in Octopath Traveler II, and it includes two additional storylines unlocked at the end of the experience to help tie everything together.
7Dragon Quest 4
TheDragon Questseries is one of the most acclaimed in gaming history, with a ton of mainline entries, spinoffs and spiritual successors of its own. The games are full ofcharming charactersand enthralling plot lines, but none are as similar to Octopath Traveler 2 as Dragon Quest 4.
The fourth Dragon Quest game is split into multiple chapters, with each of the first four chapters planting you in the shoes of a different character. You’ll experience each individual’s story before the climactic chapter, during which you’ll control the game’s main hero. The game’s finale sees the hero bringing the entire group together in order to prevent the villainous Psaro’s plans of world domination.
6Romancing SaGa: Minstrel Song
The concept of having a large selection of main characters like those present in Octopath Traveler 2 is often associated with multiple, branching storylines. If you’re looking for a game that blends these two concepts, you may want to giveRomancing SaGa: Minstrel Songa try.

This remake of the original Romancing SaGa features eight separate protagonists to select from, much like Octopath Traveler 2. Gameplay is extremely nonlinear, a staple of the SaGa series, with your chosen hero working with various recruited party members in an open world to trigger events and progress the story toward a final confrontation with the villainous Saruin.
5Wild Arms
Another classic JRPG that features multiple playable main characters, Wild Arms is unique in that its setting and music takes inspiration from the Wild West. Despite this, it will undoubtedly appeal to those Octopath Traveler 2 players who like to watch a greater narrative unfold from a variety of perspectives.
While most other games of this style see each storyline playing out separately before they converge into one overall narrative, Wild Arms tasks you with playing the prologue of all three main characters - Rudy, Cecilia, and Jack. After meeting each of these three heroes, they will come together, aligning their goals to save their world of Filgaia from its impending destruction.
4Final Fantasy 9
WhileFinal Fantasy 9may not be structured in the same way that Octopath Traveler 2 is, its story still manages to contain many branching paths and multiple points of view. The ninth entry in the iconicFinal Fantasyseries is unique in that it features the Active time Event system, which allows you to view short cutscenes from the vantage point of other characters in the game, even when they’re absent from your main party.

2Triangle Strategy
Between the releases of the main Octopath Traveler games, Square Enix also developed and releasedTriangle Strategy. This tactical RPG may have different gameplay mechanics and systems than the Octopath games, but it’s one of only a few other games that share the HD-2D look, and it contains the same charming style of writing and character development.

1Chrono Trigger
Chrono Triggerserves as one of the easiest recommendations to make to fans of RPGs in general, especially those stylized after the 16-bit,Super Nintendoera. The game may follow one group of characters' exploits through time, but the multitude of different time periods and altered settings that your party visits will make each segment of Chrono Trigger feel vastly different from the last.
