On Tuesday,Gran Turismo 7will receive an updatethat adds compatibility with the PS VR2. This allows players to put on their headset to enable in-game head-tracking, adding a level of immersion that Gran Turismo 7 has never before seen. But, as luck would have it, next week’s update isn’t just about the PS VR2.Polyphony Digital CEO Kazunori Yamauchi teased at least four new cars will be coming to Gran Turismo 7 alongside the PS VR2 patch. “Big updates are coming next week,“wrote Yamauchialongside silhouettes of the four cars being teased.Related:PS VR2 Review - An Expensive Glimpse At The FutureMy knowledge of historic car silhouettes isn’t particularly great, but thankfully,ResetEra user nolifebrhas provided us with a list of possibilities for each of the four shadowy figures Yamauchi teased. The top car is most likely the Citroen DS, a front mid-engined executive car built between 1955 and 1975. Built in several configurations, we’re most likely looking at the sedan model. The bottom car is probably a 1960s Formula One Car–either the AAR Eagle or Honda RA272. The shadow on the right is a Porsche 911 Carerra, which can come in a number of different models that are hard to determine just by body shape alone (nolifebr suggests the 2.7L, the RS M471, or the 2.8L RSR).
The final car in the middle looks like it could be a new Vision Gran Turismo car, which are digital concepts made specifically for the Gran Turismo series in collaboration with real car manufacturers. Gran Turismo 7 has several Vision cars from Lamborghini, Jaguar, Porsche, Suzuki, and Ferrari.
The PS VR2 update won’t just be about adding head tracking. Polyphony confirmed in a blog update last week that the patch will also add a VR showroom that will let you explore Gran Turismo 7’s entire car library up close and personal. You’ll be able to view all cars externally from a number of different angles as well as internally from either the passenger or driver’s seat.
Gran Turismo 7’s PS VR2 update arrives February 21, with the PS VR2 itself launching on February 22.
