Safety Services
Every city hasfive essential safety services.These are theArchitect’s Post, Firehouse, Physician, Police Station, and Apothecary.These core buildings willsend out workers that keep your city safe.The building cost, number of employees required, and services provided differ but here are a few thingsevery service hasin common.
The easiest way to route employees is tobuild simple road structures and use roadblocksto send them in loops.

Prevents Collapse
The Architect’s Post is essential forpreventing collapse.You will need onewithin 40 blocks of any building.This includesboth residential, and industrial areas.
It’s especially important to remember tobuild Architect’s Posts near granaries and warehouses. If they collapse you willlose your goods as well as the building.
If a building collapses you will need toclear the rubble and rebuild,which can be costly. Make sure Architect’s haveunblocked accessto all areas.

Prevents Fire
While collapse is devastating fires are even worse. This is becausefire can spread to adjacent areas.This is often an issue in residential areas where houses are close together.If one dwelling catches fire you can lose several, especially if your firehouse is far away.
Building industrial structures witha space between themcan helpstop a fireand prevent itfrom taking out several warehouses at once.
Firehouses reduce fire risk but alsoput out any fires that do start.However, the longer it takes the to get to the fire,the more chance of it spreading before it burns out or is extinguished.
Reduces Malaria
The Apothecaryreduces the risk of disease, mainly malaria.You’ll want tobuild them around your residential areasto help protect the citizens.
Cities near the Nile, or near beds of reeds have a higher chance of a Malaria outbreak. Apothecaries should be high priority in these areas.
Apothecaries can be aquicker and cheaper way to stop disease spread in the early game, although you will need physician’s as well.

Improves Health
A physician will patrol the areahelping raise the health of local residents.You’ll only need Physician’s near to houses, sincethey only do home visits.
Later stage houses willrequire Physician accessto evolve, but building Physician’s Offices early will helpkeep your city plague free.
Residentsdon’t mind living near a Physician’s office,so you’re able to place them quite close to your houses. This can be especially helpful in smaller cities.
Apolice station won’t be required, but does have ahuge effect on desirability and safety.Police patrols can prevent crime, reduce theft, and keep citizens feeling safe.
YourPalace and Courthouses can be robbed if the crime rate is high.Build close to these as well as your houses to prevent thefts.
