Sons Of The Forestis a hardcore survival game, which means food and water are both necessities. Right at the start, you’ll probably end up with a few MREs and soda pops from the luggage strewn across the crash site, but that will only last you a couple of days. Then you’ll need to source your own food and water.

There are a variety of different methods to acquire food and water throughout the game, whether that’s foraging, hunting, or growing your own food. More will likely be added as the game receives its first updates, too.

Guide To Water In Sons Of The Forest
Water is essential. Your character will become dehydrated if you don’t drink, and you’ll start taking ticking damage. Thankfully, it’s extremely straightforward to get water - just go to any source of fresh water (stream, lake, or river), jump into the water and press"E"to take a big gulp of it.
Once you’ve found the 3D printer, you can also craft aFlaskwhich you can take with you on the move to stay hydrated while exploring the caves and underground bunkers.

Guide To Food In Sons Of The Forest
There are loads of different food sources in the game, from hunting small animals to sending Kelvin out to get fish.
Early Game Food
Right at the start, you may collect the bits of loot around the crash site in the hopes you’ll pick up some food sources, like MREs or candy bars.
After that, there are a few different ways to acquire more food:
You could also build your base on the coastline, as there is pretty much an unlimited supply of turtles.
Containers respawn their loot after a short time, which means you can return to different PoIs to grab more resources - including food.
