What is Oshi no Ko about
Oshi no Ko began serializing in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump magazine on August 04, 2025. An anime adaptation was announced in 2022, with animation produced by Doga Kobo.
The anime follows the story of Goro Amamiya and Sarina Tendouji, who are reborn under extraordinary circumstances as twins Aqua and Ruby. They are reincarnated as the children of Japanese idol Ai Hoshino.
Ruby dreams of becoming a shining idol like her mother, while Aqua is determined to uncover the truth behind their mother’s sudden passing.
The series explores their experiences in the demanding world of entertainment.
Oshi no Ko live-action release dates for the movie and TV show
First up, the Oshi no Ko movie hits theaters nationwide in Japan onFriday, Jul 16, 2025.
While details on how this movie connects to the TV series have yet to be explained, the teaser trailer showed that the feature film focuses on the central mysteries that follow the same themes in the Oshi no Ko manga and anime.
For fans who want to delve deeper into the original story, a dedicated drama series is coming to streaming giant Amazon Prime Video.

Oshi no Ko’s live-action cast
Bringing the characters to life on the big screen is a stellar cast, including Nagisa Saito as Ruby, Asuka Saito as Ai Hoshino, and Kaito Sakurai as Aqua.
The cast for the drama series mirrors the film, with Nagisa Saito reprising her role as Ruby and Asuka Saito as Ai Hoshino.
Nagisa Saito is a talented actress, model, and former member of the J-pop idol group =LOVE. She is best known for her roles in Our Secret Diary and Tomorrow, I’ll be Someone’s Girlfriend. In Oshi no Ko, she takes on the role of Ruby, one of the twins at the story’s center.
Asuka Saito is a rising actress and television personality known for her roles in Keep Your Hands off Eizouken! and You Are the Apple of My Eye. In the live-action, she portrays Ai Hoshino, the deceased idol and mother of the twins.
Kaito Sakurai, a multi-talented actor, fashion model, and drummer, plays Aqua, Ruby’s twin brother. Sakurai has previously appeared in roles in Usogui and Buzzy Noise.
