One of the most fun elements ofWorld of Warcraft: Dragonflightis the new dragonriding feature. This refreshed flying system has revitalized the way you’re able to travel around the Dragon Isles. The system allows you to ride fourdifferent species of dragon mounts, only available in the Dragon Isles.
What’s more is that these dragon mounts feature an array of customization options, so you can make your dragon as unique as you like. You can change colors, add spikes, modify your tail, and alter many other features. As part of the fun, you have to unlock customization options, so we’ve put together a guide to help you.

Back to the Future
These updated models do resemble mounts previously available in the game. However, they have unique touches to them. Each of these dragon mounts isunlocked through levelingwithin the Dragon Isles.
You’ll start by unlocking the Renewed Proto-Drakeearly on during your adventure. As you learn how the dragonriding system works through a series of quests, you’ll be rewarded with the proto-drake upon completion.
Dragonriding unlocks are account-wide, aside from dragonriding skill. When you start leveling on a different character, you’ll have to level up your riding skill again. When you step off the boat as you arrive on the Dragon Isles, you’ll be able to use all mounts instantly.
Where To Customise Your Dragon
To customize your dragon mount, you’ll need togo to the customization platforms— theRostrums of Transformation. All you need to do is get close enough to interact, and you’ll open the dragon customization screen.
There are alsoquests available from dragonriding trainerswho’llteach you about customization.
Where To Find The Rostrums Of Transformation
There is a platform in each of the four Dragon Isles zones. On your map, you’ll be able to see afaint dragon iconto mark their location.

How To Customise Your Dragon
Once you arrive at the customization pad, you’ll be able to seefour different dragon species iconson your right. (Some may be locked if you haven’t completed the quests to unlock them).This is how you select which mount you wantto customize.
You can save up to tendifferent looks, or roll the dice and randomize for a fun surprise.
All your dragon mounts are available asfour separate mounts. So, you don’t have to come back to the pad every time you want to change species.
Dragon Mount Skin Colours
Currently, there are onlyfive base colorsfor your dragons. Each of these is based on the five main dragonflights within the game. These are:
When you unlock each of the mounts, they each have a different base color. You’ll have to unlock the others. Thestarting colors for each mountare as follows:
How To Unlock Dragon Customizations
To unlock dragon customizations, you’ll need tolocate items known as Drakewatcher Manuscripts. These come from a variety of places. Some arefound in treasure, some arequest rewards, and others can bebought from vendors.
There are eventwo unique skinsyou can collect from PvP and raiding.
When you loot these items, you canright-click on them to learnthem. These new customization options will then be available at a Rostrum of Transformation.
We’ll be using co-ordinates for some locations, so we strongly advise downloading theCo-ordinates add-on by TomCat Tours. You candownload this add-on via Curse Forge.

World of Warcraft: Dragonflight is the the ninth expansion for Blizzard’s hugely popular MMORPG. Taking place primarily on the Dragon Isles, you must help restore the Dragonflights and their Aspects to their former power. It adds a new race-and-class hybrid, the Dracthyr, and several new dungeons and raids.
