Because Grisha can be found so soon after finishing the game’s tutorial, the fight is relatively simple but can still be quite challenging. You might want to clear some nearby brigand camps to get a better feel of the game’s combat system before rushing into Grisha’s lair. That being said, defeating the hulking beast with even the most basic of gear and abilities is still very doable.
How To Find Grisha
When you start the game, you’ll find yourfirst shellin adead endstraight ahead from where you spawn. After inhabiting the shell, turn around to face the way you came and make a left. When you get to amarsh full of frogs, cross it and you’ll come across another path that will let you stay on the direction you’ve been going.
On this path, you’ll encounter agroup of brigands. After dealing with them, keep going in the same direction until you get to another marsh full of frogs. At this second marsh, you’ll find the entrance toFallgrim Toweron your left.
Here, you’ll be able toswitch shellsand meet a number of importantNPCs.
Directly across Fallgrim Tower isGrisha’s cave.
Tread carefully if you plan to enter as the entrance to the cave is littered withtraps.
Strategy
Mortal Shell’s first boss can be quite intimidating when you come face to face with it. Then again, because it is the first boss encounter, Grisha can be defeated with just the most basic of abilities.
The most important thing to keep in mind when fighting this beast is toprioritize your defense. You can do this by familiarizing yourself with Grisha’s attacks and dealing with them accordingly.
All of Grisha’s moves can be easily avoided. When you know his attack is over, you’ll have a chance to get in one or two light attacks.
you may also parry all but one of Grisha’s attacks for an opportunity to deal a good chunk of damage and recover some of your health at the same time.
Two-Hit Thrust
Grisha will swipe at you with one arm then thrust with the other. When you see this coming, you candodge the first swingthenhardenfor the thrust to set up your counterattack.
Three-Swipe Flurry
During this attack, Grisha will swing its arms three times while moving towards you. Perform yourdodge rollto get out of the way andkeep your distanceuntil the boss does all three swings. If you’re not too far away, you’ll have time to land a quick hit before you need to start anticipating the next move.
Leap Attack
Grisha leaps into the air and performs a downward stab on its way down. Once the boss lands, its claw will be stuck in the ground. You can go in for a counterattack while the boss is stuck after performing this move, but keep in mind that you willtake damage if you are too closewhen Grisha pulls its claw out from the ground.
Uppercut
This is Grisha’smost devastating move, and it’s the only one youcan’t parry or disruptwith a harden. you may tell this move is coming when Grisha lowers its arms and lets out a loud roar. If you’re hit by the uppercut, you’ll be impaled by Grisha’s claw, giving the beast an opportunity to gnaw on your head.
Keep in mind that while all of these moves are easily telegraphed, Grisha doesn’t really follow a pattern when performing them, so you’ll still need to pay close attention during the fight. Other than that, remember toplay it safewith your offense and the fight will be over before you know it.
Grisha Rewards
After beating Grisha, you will be rewarded with750 Tarand6 Glimpses. Both of these items are used to unlock and upgrade your shell’s abilities when talking toSester Genessainside Fallgrim Tower. You’ll also gain safe passage to a small area where another shell can be obtained after defeating Grisha.
