If you’ve reached the Hyperion boss battle inReturnal, you’ve already dealt with quite a few bosses in the game. Much like other Roguelites, you spawn back at Helios whenever you’re defeated in a certain biome including the boss battle. The difficulty will also ramp up massively for the battle against Hyperion.

Thankfully, you get a new spawn point when you get to Echoing Ruins, and you’ll spawn back here if you’re defeated during the battle instead of going back to Overgrown Ruins. Though this also gives you fewer rooms and you’ll have fewer chances of finding good artifacts and weapons before the fight.
How To Reach Hyperion
If you’ve just started playing the game,it’ll be a long journey until you reach Hyperion. You’ll first have to go through the following bosses:
While it might seem like the game ends after the third boss battle, you’ll find yourself on Atropos with Helios again, but your surroundings won’t be familiar. This biome is known as the Echoing Ruins, and it has the same starting area as Overgrown Ruins apart from the different vegetation and room design.
you may also enter the Tower of Sisyphusif you grapple to the door on your right that has a circle on the mini-map marker. When you enter through the main entrance leading deeper, you’ll find a whole range of new enemies exclusive to this biome. Though these enemies might look familiar to the ones you’ve faced before.
There will be a ton ofoptional rooms in the Echoing Ruins that will have red toxic water. It’s recommended to skip these rooms until you get the required upgrade since you’ll lose a lot of health trying to get past them.
To reach Hyperion, you have to get past a bunch of rooms in this biome until you reach the dropdown. In the area below, you’ll have tofind two Echoing Keysto open the vault and enter the boss room. When you get to the main area, use different grapples to get to the top until you find Selene’s body with a pistol beside it.
Go outside the building and keep following the path upward from this point until you see a giant battlefield with Hyperion that looks like a tree branch.Drop in the area to start the battle.
Hyperion First Phase Guide
Unlike other boss fights,Hyperion will start overwhelming you from the first phase itself. Though this boss also has three phases, and the next phase is triggered when you deplete its health fully. Here are all the flurry of attacks you’ll face in the domain:
The attacks performed by the boss don’t seem overwhelming themselves, but it’s their combination that can be lethal. For example, you may have blue bullets, orbs, a circular laser, and a straight laser coming for you at the same time. This will make it hard to dodge all the attacks, so it’s important to have a ton of health or shield items.
Some second-chance items like theAstronaut Figurine or Child’s Watch can help you out a ton in this battle. If you’re defeated while fighting Hyperion, these items will respawn you at the same place and continue the battle.
On the other hand, if you’ve interacted with a Reconstructor before you got here, you’ll spawn in this room and will have to restart the battle completely.
Hyperion Second Phase Guide
When you finish the first phase of this boss fight,a cutscene will trigger and the boss will become hyperactive. After this cutscene, it’ll quickly throw a ton of green orbs and blue bullets at you, marking the beginning of the second phase. Apart from all the old attacks, you’ll also see some new ones here:
It will be hard to dodge all these attacks at the same time, but you can get closer to the boss since a lot of attacks don’t hit in that area. Although, the boss will perform a melee attack if you stay close to it for too long.
Since you constantly have to move in battle, the Electropylon Driver weapon is great for this battle. With this weapon, you may simply shoot a bunch of bullets that stick to the boss and deal regular damage to it while you can focus on dodging.
Though there is a downside to this weapon. The regular damage is quite low and it will take a longer time for the boss to lose all its health. You’ll have to dodge the constant flurry of attacks for longer because of this.
Hyperion Third Phase Guide
Phase three will show thetrue nature of Hyperion as it gets a lot more aggressive when it enters this phase. As soon as it starts, the boss will shoot green orbs, yellow orbs on the floor, melee attack, and blue orbs in a cross shape, all at the same time. After that, Hyperion will move to the center of the field.
Here, it will continue these attacks while it creates a blue orb vortex above it.These orbs will slowly fall to the ground starting from the ones closest to the boss. If you get past this early aggressiveness, here’s everything you’ll see from the boss in this phase:
Depleting the health bar this time will defeat the boss, and you’ll get the Fractured Key that leads you to Fractured Wastes.
