Naturally, you’ll want to know which methods work the best. As you look into your options and utilize the weapons nearby, you’ll overcome the bugs and keep your party safe. Do your best to work around them, escape, and survive this post-apocalyptic world.
Stunning Vs. Killing Bugs
As you fight enemies, you’ll noticesome die in a single hit while others don’t. Larger ones usually take multiple hits to defeat, while the small ones only require one attack. The first hit stuns them, meaning they’ll be stuck in place during their turn, unable to harm any of your teammates.
With that in mind, you shouldn’t waste a second attack on a stunned enemy. Instead, wait for the stun to wear off and take them out with another strikewhen they approach you. Not only will you save on resources, butyou can focus on other tasks, like searching for items or moving objects out of the way to escape.

The Methods For Defeating Bugs
To take on the enemies throughout Overland, you must look into the methods available to kill the bugs in your way.
Weapons
In most situations, you’ll want to use a weaponto take down enemies, so understand the options available.
When To Use Them
Low Durability
They deal as much damage as the other weapons, but they break in one or two hits.
Use this weaponin place of your better weaponswhile you go through standard areas.
Projectile
you’re able to use them from a distance, butthey’ll break in a single use.
Use it against exploding enemies or tostop enemies from getting in the way.
Multi-Use Weapons
You can use them multiple times, saving inventory space, but they’ll make more noise.
Save these weapons for essential battles, like when you get swarmed or have to navigate a blockade.
Just approach them with a weapon equipped, and the game will let youselect the Kill commandto take them out.
Even though weapons take up actions and inventory space, they’ll remain yourmost common way to defeat bugs. That means you shouldn’t feel afraid to use them if a bug approaches your teammate sinceyou’ll find a replacement relatively easily.
Dogs
On top of fighting bugs with weapons, you’re able to add a dog to your party. Even though dogs can’t do everything humans can, theycan bite bugsto kill them. The bite works for various reasons.
While dogs work well for fighting bugs, you shouldonly have one in your party. Since they can’t siphon gas or perform other actions, you’ll need humans to help you survive.
Vehicles And Explosions
You can crash your car into a bug to kill it. However, doing sodamages the vehicle and can even cause it to explode. While the explosion can harm other enemies,it can also harm your teammates.
While you shouldn’t ram your vehicle into a bug, you canlook for spare ones on the mapand do the following.
Certain enemies can also explode, so wait for them to get close to other bugs, throw a projectile at them, and watch them blow up. You can alsofind mines around certain stages, so they’ll have the same effect if you use a projectile or ram something into it.
Fire And Torches
Fire is an effective method toeliminate enemies without using too many resources. Fire offers you various options to make it an effective tool for fighting enemies.
When To Use It
Igniting a Branch
Go up to a fire with a branch and select ignite.
You canuse it at night to give yourself a light source. You can also approach bugs anduse the branch to light them on fire, turning it into a multi-hit weapon.
Pouring Gasoline
Go up to a flammable object, including bugs, and select pour gasoline.
Use gasoline when an enemy is close to an open fire. They may stay close enough to it to light on fire and take damage.
Spreading to Grass
If you have a branch, you can go up to tall grass and choose to ignite it.
Avoid doing this unless you plan to make a quick escape. Lighting the grass on fire can make a barrier between you and bugs.

Points To Remember About Fighting Bugs
As you utilize the different ways to fight enemies, you’ll want to remember various crucial points. Doing so will help you figure out how to manage the situation and focus on your survival.
Wait For Them To Approach
Since you have other tasks to prioritize, likes scavenging and collecting gas, you’ll want towait for the bugs to approach you. As long as you work on the important tasks early, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to fight off enemies and make your way back to your car.
If you attempt to chase them down, you’ll waste valuable time when they naturally come to you, especially as you make noise.Once they’re within a space or two of you, you can approach and attack them. You’ll have enough actions to move away, so no nearby bugs can counterattack your characters.
Don’t Prioritize Fighting
While you’ll want to attack bugs to keep your party alive, you shouldnever prioritize fighting. Instead, prioritize the following options first.
Why
Escaping And Clearing Paths
To survive, you must create a clear escape route, so prioritize it above everything else.
Scavenging The Area
Always look around the area for new items.Prioritize finding better resourcessince you’ll make future situations easier.
Clearing Monsters
Sometimes, monsters may block your escape route, soclear them out or kill them if they get in the way of your scavenging.
Instead of focusing on combat, you shouldtreat them like a puzzleto maximize your moves and save time. Most bugs can only move one space, sorunning away and waiting to fight them remains a viable strategy.
Some can move multiple spaces, sowhenever you encounter a new enemy, wait until they move to see how far they can go.
Save Resources When Possible
While you have various weapons to help you fend off enemies, you shouldsave your resources and constantly replenish them. You don’t want to go to another area without weapons available, so don’t use all of them. However, you’ll usually find a few one- or two-use weapons in the area, so you might as well pick up and swap them tosave your better weapons for later.
Generally speaking, you’ll turn to sticks and bottles for quick use. You’ll sometimes find them on the ground and as you search through dumpsters, cars, and other locations. Either way, ensure you bring a few weapons with you, so you’ll have a way to fight off enemies during rougher situations.
