The first part ofThe Witcher 3’sstory follows Geralt as he retraces Ciri’s footsteps, seeking out one clue at a time. Each time he finds one, you are pulled into her shoes and experience what she did in a flashback. Her journey from the swamps of Velen into the Bloody Baron’s home at Crow’s Perch is one of the earliest ones.

Through the Baron, Geralt learns about how she slew a monster with the very same skills that she was taught at Kaer Morhen. This short story is similar to a witcher contract with the difficulty to match.

Starting Ciri’s Story: The King Of Wolves

The flashback begins after meeting Phillip Strenger, during the questThe Bloody Baron. He tells Geralt that he knows the witcher is looking for Ciri and explains how she had come to his home.

You will be put into a cutscene that shows her falling into a swamp covered in blood and scratches as you take control of her. You will need towalk forwards,straight into apack of wolves terrorizing a child.

You will need to defeat the wolves. Use yourquick attacksto whittle down their health and verify to be cautious. Ciridoes not haveany potions to heal with. The child willclimb down from the tree once the wolves are slainand introduces herself as Gretka.

Discovering The King Of Wolves

Gretka explains why she is alone in the woods and tells Ciri that a monster calledthe King of Wolveshas made the swamp its territory. It will likely threaten both of them.

After a short conversation, you can continue on, reaching another pack of wolvessurrounding a cow’s carcass.Once this second pack has been defeated, the pair will find adismembered bodyin a small boat.

Ciri willinspect the body,using the same process Geralt does. You can dictate what she inspects andend the investigation at any time.If done correctly, Ciri will deduce that the King of Wolves isa werewolfand begin to prepare accordingly.

If youdo not inspect the chest, legs, and belly,Ciri willincorrectly identify the monster responsible.This would affect her preparations, making the subsequent encounter more difficult.

Without a silver sword, she will need tocreate the appropriate oilneeded to harm the monster. Ciri will need to gather the following ingredients.

Harvested from the area with acow’s carcassand in thesubsequent area.

There will be athird pack of wolvesto defeat, providing you with enough ingredients tocreate the blade oil.Once everything has been gathered, Ciri willstop and prepare the oil.

Defeating The Werewolf

With preparations made, Gretka and Ciri continue their attempt to leave the swamp, entering a cave where they find the King of Wolves attacking a defenseless man. Ciri jumps in, putting you in a boss fight against the werewolf.

Without Quen and Witcher Signs, you will need torely on dodging away from its clawsand attacking when the opportunity presents itself.

This werewolf fights similarly to its brethren, usingclaw swipesandlungesto attack its enemies. It is generally advisable tododge to the sideinstead ofbackwards.

Ciri may not be a witcher, but she is no less competent. Another cutscene begins once the King of Wolves is felled, ending the quest. The main quest,Family Matters, begins next.
