The Wild Hunt’s pursuit of Ciri has not made her life easy. Their constant presence has forced her into an unending game of cat-and-mouse that has kept her from being able to stop for even a short while. There is no moment inThe Witcher 3that hammers this point home more than Ciri’s Story: Fleeing The Bog.

This short and intense quest is a reminder of how hard things are for Ciri and just how dangerous Velen is. The swamps, already a mire of war and misery, are made worse by the Crones that dominate the region through their magic and rituals.
How To Start Ciri’s Story: Fleeing the Bog
Like the other flashbacks, this quest will begin during another main quest. In this case, at the conclusion ofLadies of the Woods.Having made a pact with the Crones of Crookback Bog and fulfilling his end of the bargain, Geralt manages to force the witches to tell him how Ciri had arrived in Velen.
Chronologically speaking,Fleeing the Bog is thefirst flashback to occur.Theorder in which you experiencethe flashbacksdoes not have a bearing on the story, though it contextualizes Ciri’s behavior for much of the game.
The Crones clearly take too much pride in telling Geralt what they tried to do to his adopted daughter, which is usually a foolish move. It is a shame that they are too dangerous and important to kill on the spot.
Getting Outta Dodge
The flashback starts when Ciri arrives outside the Crones' hut, falling out of a portal and collapsing from exhaustion. She has been through the wringer. The Crones waste no time in picking her up and bringing her inside.
Instead of trying to nurse Ciri back to health, the Crones decide tofeed on herbeforegiving her to the Wild Hunt.Their plan is thwarted by Ciri escaping at the last moment, starting a mad dash out of the swamp.
Youdo not have to fight any enemies.The flashback will be completed so long as Ciri makes it to the end.Dashing repeatedlywill suffice.
This starts a short sequence that has Cirirun through the swampasdrowners and hounds of the Wild Huntmaterialize in front of her. You will have tohelp Ciri escapeby reaching the quest marker at the end.
A final cutscene will play, connecting this flashback withCiri’s Story: The King of the Wolves. The quest will end after, not before the Crones provide a final, revolting display.
