Since the game throws Sonic and his crew right into the adventure, fishing is left up to the player to find on their own. There is not a lot of direction when it comes to the ponds’ locations, rewards, and how to fish. Here are a few tips for fishing and how it can make the game easier.
Fishing Locations
Kronos Island
The very first island of the game has a simple layout that is easy to navigate. The fishing pond is all the way to the west and at the tip of a peninsula. It isto the left of where you must fight an Asurain order to get the white chaos emerald. There is one of thoseportals, but instead of taking you to a running level, it transports Sonic to a fishing pond.
Ares Island
This one is a tad trickier to spot.In the southeast, there is a cavewith many different pathways. Inside the cavern, there will be a crossroads after navigating past obstacles.Take the left roadandgrab the barto zip upward. This will bring you to a small island where the portal to the fishing pond rests.
Chaos Island
This one is located in thesoutheasternarea of the map.Head to the edge right by a red, crab-looking enemy called a Spider. There isa railing you’re able to rideand bounce through some obstacles.Keep heading right, and you will land on a small islandwhere you can use the portal.
Ouranos Island
This one is right by thewhite chaos emerald. Located to the southwest of the white emerald is where the portal is, but you will need to take the long way around. Juststay close to the edge and make sure you keep the two landmarks in sight(the white emerald and the portal), andfollow the path around the canyon.

How Fishing Works
Once the portal is found, and you’ve been teleported to the pond, it is finally time to do some fishing. Remember thosepurple coins that can be found around each island? This is where they will be used. You can also get purple coins during Starfall events. The characterBigis here to help explain the rules of fishing.
To fish, cast the line out into the pond where there can be shadows of fish seen swimming around. Wait for thefish to bite your line, and instantly press your action button.Press the same buttonin order to reel in the fish, but you need to time it when the white circle is inside the red circle. Sometimes, there will be two or more red circles. When this happens, make sure to press the button for each red circlein order to successfully catch the fish.
As you progress through the game, the cost of fishing will get larger. Kronos’s portal only costs two, while Ouranos’s costs eight per cast. However, the rewards will get biggeras the islands get tougher.
Fishing Rewards
There are a few things that can be obtained after reeling in a fish.Treasure tokens are the main rewardthat you will yield the most. These can be used to purchase items such as Memory Tokens, Rings, and even Portal Gears. If you have enough tokens to spend, you canbuy some Portal Keys. Getting enough of those will allow you to skip over entire running levels on the island, since you won’t need thekeys. Just head straight for the chaos emerald if you so desire! Another interesting item that can be purchased is theEgg Memos. These are cards that Doctor Eggman seeming left behind, and reading them can helppiece together the storyof Sonic Frontiers.
