In addition to the eight regular jobs that the main cast ofOctopath Traveler 2have access to, there are also four secret jobs that they can acquire. These jobs are unique and have more quirky skills than the regular jobs - as a result, making them work is often more involved than usual.

One of these jobs is the Inventor, a useful job that grants access to a few weapon types and a host of very useful skills. The only problem is that acquiring these skills involves a hefty treasure hunt that might take you many hours.
How To Unlock Inventor Skills
As with all other jobs, the Inventor job has you starting with two skills already learned -Changeable CatapultandSpringy Boots- and six to unlock.
Five of the Inventor’s skills are unlocked byprocuring items across the world of Solistiaand returning them to Arkar, the Inventor who gives you the job license who lives to the east of New Delsta. The sixth is learned once you’ve learned the previous five.
All you have to do isgather the required materials and deliver them to Arkar. Once you’ve done this, the relevant skill will be unlocked for all eight travelers at once, meaning they will also all get the Inventor job’s support skills at the same time, too.
As with the other unique jobs, there is only one Inventor license in the game, so only one character at a time can use the job’s helpful moves. It’s best suited to characters who often have downtime, so avoid characters who are very regularly setting up or controlling the battlefield, such as Osvald, Throné, and Agnea. Instead, try using Inventor with Partitio or Hikari- both will appreciate the expanded repertoire of damage types.

The table below details the items required for each Inventor skill and how to acquire them. Most of them can be acquired as soon as you have access to the wider world, but some will require progressing specifically in Partitio’s storyline, and some are locked behind some tough-to-get items.
