Hunter x Hunter returns after a nearly two-year hiatus
While the exact chapters included in volume 38 have yet to be confirmed, it is anticipated to encompass chapters 390 to 400.
The most recent Hunter x Hunter volumes have each included 10 chapters. For example, volume 37, released on July 28, 2025, contains chapters 381 to 390.
Volume 38 continues the intense Succession Contest arc. This perilous storyline centers around the fourteen princes of the Kakin Empire, who are forced into a deadly battle for the throne as their ship, the Black Whale, sets sail for the mysterious Dark Continent.
Kurapika, hired as a bodyguard by the eighth Queen, Oito Hui Guo Rou, finds himself entangled in this high-stakes game while pursuing his mission to confront the last owner of his clan’s eyes, Prince Tserriednich.

Status of the Hunter x Hunter manga
The release of chapter 400 on June 17, 2025, marked the beginning of another extended hiatus for Hunter x Hunter. In the series’ publication, author Yoshihiro Togashi has been open about the health challenges that have forced these breaks.
However, a recent update fromTogashi on Xoffered fans a renewed sense of optimism. The author announced the completion of chapters 401, 402, and 403, signaling progress on the long-awaited continuation of the series.
These chapters have no official release date, and Shueisha has yet to confirm Hunter x Hunter’s return to the weekly serialization schedule.
