Chapter 108 of Kaiju no 8 plunged Kafka Hibino into a desperate struggle. Kaiju no 9 awakened a dormant monster power within its upgraded body, granting him immense combat strength fueled by the essence of Kaiju no 2, one of the series’ most formidable beasts.
However, Kaiju no 9 was one of many threats. It also possessed the fighting knowledge of Isao Shinomiya, the former Defense Force leader and a master of squadron-style combat.
Overwhelmed by this combined power, Hibino relied on the new techniques he had honed with Soshiro Hoshina, the Third Division vice-captain, just to survive.
The situation worsened when Hibino learned he’d been transformed for over 30 minutes, exceeding the safe limit for maintaining his human form. Hishino revealed that Hibino might be unable to return to his human form.
Just as Kaiju no 9 delivered a critical blow, exposing Hibino’s core, Mina Ashiro, captain of the Third Division, intervened with a precise shot, saving Hibino from annihilation.
This selfless act fulfilled Hibino’s childhood promise to fight alongside Ashiro as a Defense Force officer.

According to Shueisha’s official Manga Plus app, the next Kaiju no 8 manga chapter releases onThursday, June 20, at 8 a.m. PT.
