What began as a clever nod has now become a reality with the official announcement of the McDonald’s anime.
On February 27, the world-famous fast-food restaurant revealed its partnership with Studio Pierrot, the animation studio behind Naruto and Bleach, to create the first official McDonald’s anime series.
This collaboration brings to life the beloved WcDonald’s restaurants often featured in anime. Additionally, fans can look forward to the special McDonald’s Savoury Chili WcDonald’s Sauce, available for a limited time at participating restaurants.

What is WcDonald’s?
WcDonald’s is a playful alteration Japanese animation studios use to include the famous fast-food chain in their fictional worlds.
This parody version allows creators to reference the iconic restaurant without facing copyright issues from McDonald’s, one of the largest corporations globally.
The concept of WcDonald’s first appeared in the 1981 manga and anime series Cat’s Eye, making its anime debut in the 48th episode of the 1983 adaptation, titled “A Mystery for a Winter Night.”
Since its introduction,WcDonald‘s has appeared in various media forms, including manga, anime, video games, light novels, webtoons, and other animated formats, often appearing as a background element or a brief cameo.
What is the McDonald’s anime?
The anime features four exciting episodic shorts, introducing fans to the flavorful world of WcDonald’s. Fans can view stories centered around the iconic WcDonald’s Sauce and WcNuggets.
Starting the week of June 13, 2025, a new short will be released weekly in conjunction with new manga releases onmcdonalds.ca.
These shorts pay homage to four prominent subgenres in anime: Action, Romance, Mecha, and Fantasy, available for viewing online.
What is the WcDonald’s sauce and McDonald’s manga packaging?
McDonald’s has introduced the Savoury Chili WcDonald’s Sauce, a limited-time offering for anime fans.
According to their official post, the sauce was designed to reflect the “dynamic spirit of your favorite anime heroes.” The sauce is available with McDonald’s 10-piece “WcNuggets” Chicken McNuggets or as a dip for any menu item.
In addition to the new sauce, McDonald’s has collaborated with Japanese manga artist Acky Bright to create custom WcDonald’s packaging.
These manga-inspired takeout bags, featuring characters from the WcDonald’s Crew sketched by Acky Bright, will be available for a limited time at select restaurants.
