Pokemon Gohas brought several Legendary Pokemon to the game since launch, including the Legendary Eon Duo, Latios and Latias. Additionally, the powered-up, Mega Evolutions of these two Pokemon have also been brought to Pokemon Go,Mega LatiosandMega Latias.

These two Mega Evolved Legendaries can only be obtained through the successful completion of their Mega Raid, a PvE battle that proves to be extremely difficult. For this reason, we advise against going in blind, so we have put together a guide with everything you need to know to properly prepare for this Raid.
Recommended Group Size
Mega Latios and Mega Latias’s Raids aren’t standard Mega Raids due to the fact that they’reLegendary, Mega Evolutions,significantly adding to the difficulty of these encounters. Proving to be some of the hardest Raids currently in Pokemon Go, you will definitely need to attempt this with a coordinated group of high-level Trainers.
Due to the overall power and bulk of both Mega Latios and Mega Latias, it’s recommended that you attempt this Raid with a large group size,ideally a group of six to eight Trainers.This is a group size that is much larger than what is recommended for the majority of other Pokemon Go Raids, but it is necessary due to the difficulty that these two Mega Raids present.
Utilizing a Mega Evolved Pokemonis highly recommended for this encounter due to the benefits that it provides both you and your allies.
Mega Evolving one of the Pokemon that you are using for this Raid will add to your team’s overall damage output byincreasing the damage that your team’s attacks deal if they share a typing with the Mega Evolved Pokemon.
Mega Latios And Mega Latias: Strengths And Weaknesses
Although Mega Latios and Mega Latias have separate Mega Raids, they both possess and Dragon and Psychic dual-typing. This means that thesetwo Pokemon share the same strengths and weaknesseson the battlefield, both extremely important to keep in mind when selecting your team of Pokemon for this Raid.
First discussing the strengths of these Pokemon, there are six different Pokemon types that you will want to avoid using:Fighting, Fire, Water, Grass, Electric, and Psychic.Pokemon that use attacks of these types will fall short compared to others, dealing significantly less damage to either Mega Latios or Mega Latias.
Fortunately, there also six different types that these two Pokemon are weak to, giving you plenty of options when it comes to which Pokemon you want to use when assembling your Raid team. The six types that Mega Latios and Mega Latias are vulnerable to includeBug, Ghost, Ice, Dragon, Dark, and Fairy types,so make sure to take advantage of this by using attacks of these types.
In addition to using Pokemon that Mega Latios and Mega Latias are weak to, make sure that you’re using Pokemon that have attacks that will be enhanced throughSame Type Attack Bonus.
Pokemon that areusing different attacks that match their typing will benefit from STAB,improving the overall damage that you deal when using these specific attacks.

Mega Latios And Mega Latias: Best Counter Picks
Due to Mega Latios and Mega Latias both sharing a Dragon and Psychic dual-typing and having similar in-game stats, they are generally countered by the same Pokemon. These counter picks includingPokemon Go’s strongest Bug, Ghost, Ice, Dragon, Dark, and Fairy-types,all of which take advantage of the vulnerabilities of these two Legendary Mega Evolutions.
