This year’sMid-Season Invitational(MSI 2024) is changing things up again.

Last year, the annual international tournament already underwent major format changes by adding more teams, increasing the number of major region representatives from LCS, LEC, LCK, and LPL to two each.

At the same time, its format changed to a Play-In Stage and Bracket Stage, adopting a double elimination format for the first time in LoL esports history.

This year, Riot Games adds even more stakes —the winner of MSI qualifies for Worlds 2024. The second place winner secures an additional seed for their region.

What is the Mid Season Invitational 2024 (MSI 2024)?

MSI is an annualLeague of Legendsesports tournament organized by Riot Games. It’s the first international competition in the League of Legends esports calendar year.

MSI 2024 takes place May 1 to 19, 2024 in Chengdu, China at the Chengdu Financial City Performing Arts Center. It isplayed on League of Legends patch 14.8.

MSI 2024 format

There are two stages: Play-In Stage and Bracket Stage.

The Play-In Stage takes place May 1-5, followed by the Bracket Stage, from May 7-19.Read a detailed explainer here.

Matches start at 4 p.m. GMT+8 | 1 a.m. PT | 9 a.m. CET daily.

T1 and Top Esports advance to the Bracket Stage.

May 5 (Sunday)

FlyQuest and GAM Esports are eliminated. PSG Talon and Fnatic advance to the Bracket Stage.The draw results can be viewed here.

Team Liquid drops to lower bracket round one.

May 8 (Wednesday)— Quarterfinals

Gen.G advances to the upper bracket semifinal to face Top Esports.

PSG Talon drops to lower bracket round one.

May 10 (Friday)— Quarterfinals

May 11 (Saturday)— Lower bracket round one and Upper bracket semifinals

Fnatic is eliminated. Team Liquid advances to lower bracket round two.

May 12 (Sunday)— Lower bracket round one and Upper bracket semifinals

G2 Esports advances to lower bracket round two to face Top Esports. PSG Talon is eliminated.

May 14 (Tuesday) — Lower bracket round 2

G2 Esports advances to lower bracket round three to face the winner of T1 and Team Liquid’s lower bracket round two match.

Top Esports is eliminated.

May 15 (Wednesday)— Lower bracket round 2

T1 advances to lower bracket round three to face G2 Esports for a second time this tournament.

May 16 (Thursday)— Upper bracket final

Gen.G advances to the Grand Finals.

Bilibili Gaming drops to the lower bracket final and will face the winner of T1 and G2 Esports’ lower bracket round 3 match.

May 17 (Friday)— Lower bracket round 3

T1 advance to the lower bracket final to face Bilibili Gaming.Faker shares his post-game thoughts here.

May 18 (Saturday)— Lower bracket final

Bilibili Gaming advances to the grand finals to face Gen.G for a second time.

T1 is eliminated.

May 19 (Sunday) — Grand finals

With this championship win, Gen.G qualifies for Worlds 2024 as long as they make it to the LCK Summer 2024 playoffs.
