Hyrule Warriors (Legends and Definitive Edition)boasts a wide range of customizable options and multiple game modes to create a truly unique and diversified experience. Of its many features, few are more difficult to properly utilize than its “My Fairy” system.

As it’s limited toAdventure Mode, it’s easy to go through an entire story gameplay without ever knowing how to acquire or use fairies. However, you’re rewarded greatly for exploring the Adventure Mode maps with creatures that can greatly assist you in difficult maps and against tough enemies.
What Are Fairies?
Fairies are usefulcompanionsscattered across Hyrule in particular maps andhidden within breakable brown pots. Each fairy is unique, and their skills can help you turn the tide of battle to your favor. You’ll be use theirabilitiesonce yourmagic gaugeis high enough todeal significant damage to enemiesandcast an effectunique to your fairy’s innate element. There arefive elementsof fairies:
Each fairy’s element allows them access tounique spellslinked to their elemental attribute that you can activate when yourMagic gauge is maxed out.
Quake (Lightning)
Lowers speed for enemy troops within attack range.
To increase the effects of a fairy’s power, add additional elements, boost their skills, and gain more trust (with max trust eventually rewarding you with a unique gift), you’ll need tofeed and clothe your fairyappropriately. Clothing your fairy can increase your fairy’s damage, while feeding your fairy to level them up will steadily increase the range of your fairy’s magic attack.
When feeding your fairy and leveling them up to increase its magic range,your magic range stops increasing at level 50. As such, it is generally recommended that — if you’re not planning on refreshing your fairy — to leave them at level 50.
Youmay only possess and raise three fairies in the original Legends edition and five fairies in the Definitive edition.
My Fairy Menu Facilities
Once you have a fairy, you’ll be able to access the"My Fairy" menufrom the homescreen. Three options will immediately be available to you (four in co-op):

All Fairies And Their Locations
All fairies are found in theAdventure Mode battles,hidden in a brown potwithin a single keep of a particular square on the larger Adventure Mode map. They can be tricky to find, and with three or five fairies max, planning out your fairies before finding them is generally a good idea.
Definitive Edition and Legends DLC content allows you tosee fairies as a possible treasurewhen looking at a particular square on the map.
Light Fairies
Light Fairies are primarily good at being support “cleric” classes for your character as most skills innate to Light Fairies are focused onrestoring and preserving health (for you and allies).
East Goron Keep
Dark Fairies
As expected from a Dark-alignment fairy, they are specialists indisrupting your opponentanddealing a large amount of damage. Most of the starting skills of Dark Fairies replenish your special attack gauge faster and increase your damage output.
South Field Keep
Fire Fairies
Fire Fairies arebasic utilityand lackluster when compared to the other elements' starting skills. The Quake spell is useful and one of the best for assisting against difficult boss enemies, but the starting list of skills for Fire Fairies favorsreplenishing your gaugestoincrease survivabilitywhile giving you an opening to attack.
Start a fairy in a different element and end with the Fire Elementafter getting all your skills and refreshing, as you’ll generally find better use with other fairies from the start.
Water Fairies
For the most part, Water Fairies are specialists inlowering incoming damage and healing over time. They aren’t costly, and their flexibility in general combat usage makes them a strong class overall.

Lightning Fairies
The Lightning Fairies areexperts in movement. Their skills eitherboost your own movementor disrupt the movement of your enemies.The Great Sea Map fairy does have an overlapping skill with one of the Light Fairies and is negligible altogether, but the other three are strong choices.

Feeding Fairies
Food can be given in the Dining Room and is found inbreakable pots in Adventure Modeand bydefeating enemies. Each type of food has a rarity, type, and element.
You should farm food using the pot method, as enemy drops are rare and don’t begin until the gold variant of a food item is found through the pot-breaking method first, allowing that food to then be found by drops. Simply respawn food in breakable pots by exiting and re-entering the game.

It may alsoincrease or decrease personality traitsandcould change the element affinityof your fairy altogether.
Each food’s potency is affected by whether the food matches the fairy’s element, and should enough of a particular food of another element be consumed, thatfairy will change to its highest element affinity when refreshing. Keep in mind that Bronze food raises element affinity by one point, Silver by two, and Gold by three.
Scent Seeds (Dark) and Mystery Seeds (Light), unlike other foods, boost their opposite element’s affinity.
Additionally, you may findGratitude Crystalsthatraise all traits by five (Silver) or ten (Gold)when consumed. To receive a Gratitude Crystal, you will have torelease a fairy back into the wild. A Silver Gratitude Crystal will be given by a fairy that is released before reaching level 50, and a Gold Gratitude Crystal will be given by a fairy whose level exceeds 50.

Fairy Clothing
In addition to food, you’re able to also give your fairiesclothes in the Salon. Doing so changes their outfit appearance and also givesboons to the effects of elemental magic.
There arefive categories of clothingand each has its own general effect, but they can be split evenly intotwo categories:
Alltopsin the clothing tablesmarked with *take upboth the tops and bottomscategory. However,dresses only give the bonuses for a top, meaning that wearing them prevents you from gaining the bonus of a bottom piece.

Skills
All fairies are capable oflearning any ten skills with five equippedat any one time. These skills can vary in effect, and are not limited to a fairy’s element. Once equipped, you can activate these skills in combat by selecting them in your Quick Items menu. You canonly activate one skill at a time.
Once your fairy reacheslevel 99, you’ll be able to “Refresh” it. Doing so means:
Focus on a single fairyrather than several, as you’ll never be able to use more than one in combat, and any fairy can become anything you choose so long as you invest the right amount of time and effort.
Replenishes health when health reaches zero, but only once.
Makes you invincible, but decreases your attack damage.
Creates a shock wave that makes enemies get blown away when running.
Replenishes health, Special Attack, and Magic gauges when inside allied keeps.
Allows the warriors being controlled to move from one place to another much faster (increased movement speed).
Replenishes Special Attack gauge every time you inflict damage on enemies.
Sparkly 200
Increases attack damage, but reduces your health and defenses to 1 hit.
Resolute 200
Creates a shock wave that knocks down surrounding enemies.
