Omnimovement confirmed for Black Ops 6, how does it work?

Omnimovement could be a game-changer.

Activision has overhauled theCall of Duty: Black Ops 6movement from the ground up, making player models much more flexible and free in their maneuverability. Here’s all we know about the Omnimovement in Black Ops 6.

Slide is a movement tactic that COD players have become familiar with over the years. It allows bullet dodging and gliding across close corners in one swift movement.

However, the movement has generally been rigid and restrictive in all COD games. That will change with Black Ops 6, which is bringing Omnimovement.

In the COD:Black Ops 6Direct stream on June 9, Activision announced a major rework for how a player model moves across the map. With significant reworks to sliding, the game will allow sprinting, diving, and a full 360 range of motion in the supine position.

“We truly believe that once you experience Omnimovement, there’s no going back,” Activision said.

How does Omnimovement in Black Ops 6 work?

Unlike previous COD games, you’re able to now run in any direction and slide while sprinting. Omnimovement in Black Ops 6 will also allow you to dive smoothly in whatever direction you want without any awkward restrictions.

This type of movement freedom was never available in any of the COD games. However, it’s not exactly ground-breaking. You’d see similar movement tactics in games like Max Payne, Apex Legends, and Helldivers 2.

Those who’ve played these games before would quickly adjust to the much-faster meta in Black Ops 6, boosted by free-sprinting and sliding.

Besides that, corner sliding is another feature that Activision has mentioned for Black Ops 6. While peeking a corner, you won’t have to readjust your crosshair. Instead, it’ll follow your body’s direction, making it much easier to quickly aim at an enemy.

It’s unclear how accurate your spray downs will be once shooting mid-slide, but Activision has ensured that movement is much better than ever. This likely means that factors like run-and-gun and recoil have been taken into consideration while buffing up movement in Black Ops 6.

Those intimidated by the Omnimovement in Black Ops 6 will be glad to know that the overhaul comes with a lengthy menu for movement settings. In the menu, players can adjust their sprint, mantle, and crouch assist settings.

This feature may work similarly to “key binds” in other games. Activision has called it intelligent movement, which simply allows players to focus on “what they want to do,” not how they want to do it.

This means that instead of pairing up several keys to sprint and then dive, you may be able to bind both movements to a single key.

Black Ops 6 has been confirmed for Friday, July 11, 2025. It will be available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC via Battlenet, Microsoft Store, and Steam.
