Though they’re fundamentally different,PersonaandPokemonshare similarities, especially in gameplay. One of the most interesting aspects of the Persona games is how each party member’s Persona represents them in a way that allows you to understand them more. This is no different inPersona 3 Portable.

You can see the same happen for certain Pokemon characters, albeit to a lesser extent. With all the Pokemon out there, there are definitely some that perfectly fit Persona 3 Portable’s characters. Personas aren’t chosen, but the cast would probably choose these Pokemon to accompany them.

11Makoto Yuki & Umbreon

The protagonists of Persona are silent, but each has a distinct aura and style that shows their personalities. Makoto gives off the vibes of being cool and collected to the point of coming off as stoic.

Umbreon’s sleek black design matches his attitude and aesthetic. On top of that, midnight and the moon is a huge part of Persona 3. Umbreon operates at night and gets its power from the moonlight, making it the perfect Pokemon to take with Makoto. Even its evolution involves nighttime or using a Moon Shard.

10Kotone Shiomi & Sylveon

The male and female protagonists of Persona 3 Portable aretwo sides of the same coin. They share the same role, but their personalities are basically opposites. Kotone Shiomi is obviously bubbly, and cheerful, and wears her heart on her sleeve.

Sylveon and Umbreon both come from Eevee, but they’re also opposites. However, more than that, Sylveon is an adorable Pokemon whose design matches Kotone’s. It can use its charm and calming aura to win and stop fights, but it’s not afraid to take on enemies bigger than itself. It matches Kotone’s personality and bravery, and these two together would be unstoppable.

9Yukari Takeba & Blissey

On the outside, Yukari is a cheerful and charismatic girl who’s popular with her classmates. But if you get to know her, you can catch glimpses of her loneliness and distrust for others. Though she’s friendly, she doesn’t have anyone she considers a real friend at first. Blissey reflects that being a pleasant Pokemon who helps anyone in need but flees immediately after.

Blissey’s specialties are healing physical and mental wounds, just like Yukari’s Persona. But actually finding one is difficult, let alone capturing it, which represents the challenge of genuinely bonding with Yukari. Blisseys are an evolution of Chanseys, who’re said to only evolve if they have a strong bond with their trainer. Because of how similar they are, Yukari and Blissey’s bond would most likely be unbreakable.

8Junpei Iori & Pignite

Junpei is the goofy bro of the group, but in battle, he can dish and take a lot of damage. His Persona specializes in Physical skills, but it learns Fire skills too. Though he can hit hard and tank attacks, his agility is pretty low. Pignite is the same in almost every way.

It’s a Fire/Fighting-type, just like Junpei’s Persona. It looks cute, but its attack and HP are its highest stats so that it can beat opponents up easily. However, like Junpei, it suffers the most in the speed category. If Personas became Pokemon, there’s no doubt Junpei’s would be Pignite.

7Akihiko Sanada & Hitmonchan

Akihiko never backs down from a challenge, and if he fails, that just increases his drive to try harder. He aims to become as strong as he can to protect his loved ones. He has a knack for boxing and hits pretty hard in battle, which is why Hitmonchan is the perfect partner.

Just looking at Hitmonchan shows that it specializes in using its fists too. Its punches are lightning-fast and hit hard, but its downfall is that it tires quickly while fighting. Akihiko is the same in battle, having pretty high strength but low endurance. Of course, the most important thing they share is the fire in them that makes them never give up.

6Mitsuru Kirijo & Froslass

Even with every possible party member on board, Mitsuru is still the most elegant and assertive of them all. She’s deeply admired and respected but also feared because of her unapproachable aura and punishment for those who disobey her. No wonder her Persona mainly learns Ice skills.

Froslass,an Ice/Ghost-type Pokemon, is similarly fearsome, as it likes to freeze men and Pokemon, keeping them as souvenirs. It’s also said that it punishes men who misbehave, just like Mitsuru does. Froslass can also influence others with illusions, which can be compared to Mitsuru’s use of Marin Karin to charm enemies. Together, the pair make a chilling duo.

5Fuuka Yamagishi & Gardevoir

Fuuka is the party’s navigator, so her Persona is completely support-focused. She’s a timid and soft-spoken girl who’s kind to everyone, even her bullies. Despite her shyness, she shows immense dedication to supporting and protecting her friends in battle. She and Gardevoir have a few things in common.

Fuuka’s Persona can analyze Shadows' weaknesses and skills, and Gardevoir is a Psychic/Fairy-type that can see into the future. Both Fuuka and Gardevoir also put their all into protecting their companions, and they’re strongest when they do so. Plus, Gardevoir’s design shares similarities with Fuuka’s initial Persona. Neither of them should be underestimated based on their looks.

4Aigis & Iron Valiant

As a robot built by scientists to specifically combat Shadows, Aigis is ahead of her time. She starts out as a typical unfeeling robot but gradually develops curiosity and more human emotions throughout the story. Comparably, Iron Valiant is a robotic Pokemon created by a scientist.

Besides being robots, Aigis' Persona mainly learns Physical skills, andIron Valiant is a Fairy/Fighting-typewith physical moves. Aigis has a special mechanic called Orgia Mode, where she releases her limiters and shows no mercy to foes. Iron Valiant is the same with its opponents, though it’s a merciless killing machine by default. If the two were partners, they would undoubtedly bond over their origin and purpose.

3Koromaru & Houndour

Koromaru is the first and only Persona user who’s fully an animal. He’s loyal and protective of his companions. If he could have a Pokemon partner, Houndour would be the perfect fit. Not only are they both canines, but Houndour is a Fire/Dark-type, and Koromaru mainly learns Fire and Dark spells.

Plus, though Koromaru doesn’t have his own pack like Houndour, they share a strong sense of loyalty towards those they consider comrades. Neither of them would leave a companion behind, meaning they would never abandon each other either.

2Ken Amada & Dedenne

Ken is the youngest Persona user in the series at ten years old. Despite that, he appears to be mature for his age. The reason he uses a long spear in battle is to make up for his height. Like Ken, Dedenne is quite small, even compared to other Pokemon.

It’s also an Electric/Fairy-type, and Ken’s Persona learns Electricity skills. However, its small stature means it has a hard time producing a lot of electricity by itself. To make up for that, It absorbs electricity from other Pokemon or electric outlets. This mirrors how Ken needs help from others despite acting like the adult he isn’t. If he had Dedenne at his side, it could teach him how to embrace being small rather than despising the fact.
