Pokemon Scarlet and Violetreally turned up the heat for competitivePokemonplayers with the introduction of Terastallization. It’s by far one of the best battle gimmicks in the series and allows a number of unusual Pokemon to truly shine.

Fire-type Terastallization presents some unique advantages over the other Tera crowns. These hot-headed Pokemon are immune to burns, receive a power boost in the sun, and are the best equipped to deal with opposing Steel-type Tera users. The Fire Tera crown is a spicy pick for any Pokemon, but a few, in particular, burn the brightest.
10Lilligant
As one of the fastest Chlorophyll users available in Gen 9, Lilligant shines brightest in the sun. Its base 90 speed is doubled in the harsh sunlight, and with access to After You, it ensures its partner can match its pace.
For a Pokemon that’s typically run as support, it has an impressively high special attack of 110. With the crimson candelabra on its head, this flowery friend becomesa powerful Special Attack sweeper,with both the speed and power to roast anything opposing it with a sun-boosted Tera Blast.
9Gardevoir
Gardevoir has always been one of the strongest special sweepers, but this sorcerer gets even spicier with a torched tiara. Like most Fairy-types, it receives a lot of utility from the Fire crown by countering Steel-type threats and removing its weakness to poison.
This fiery fae is one of the best to do so, as it’s one of the strongest special attackers with access to Mystical Fire. As a Fire-type, it can launch this STAB-Boosted attack while simultaneously lowing its opponent’s Special Attack stats. Combine this with its access to Sunny Day, and it’s easy to understand why the Fire Tera crown works wonders for this warm witch.
8Annihilape
This steamed simian spirit is one of thehardest hitters in Paldeaand a fiery pick for the Fire Tera Crown. Its signature move, Rage Fist, receives a base 50 power boost each time the user is hit with a damage-dealing move. This angry apparitional ape also has access to Final Gambit, and with a base HP of 110, it can be a valuable one-for-one trade, but its biggest threat is getting burned.

Since a burned Pokemon’s physical damage is reduced by 50 percent, it’s a reasonable concern but an easy fix with the hot hat. As a Fire-type, Annihilape not only becomes burn-proof but can also fire off a STAB-boosted Fire Punch. Its base 75 damage is slightly lower than Tera Blast, but it offers the chance to burn those it connects with, making this baboon banshee one of the best bets for the blazing bejeweled bonnet.
7Salamence
Another hot pick for the heated headdress is Hoenn’s most sinister sky-flyer, Salamence. This levitating lizard hits hard and fast with a base 100 Speed and can increase the entire team’s speed with Tailwind. This feisty flyer gets fiercer with a flaming fez by removing its Electric, Dragon, and Ice-type weaknesses.
Additionally, as a Fire-type with access to Heat Wave, Fire Blast, and Flamethrower, it can utilize its base 110 Special Attack to cremate its competitors while testing its previous threats. The offensive and defensive viability it receives from a Fire-type Terastallization makes Salamence a spicy selection for the sizzling skull cap.
6Skeledirge
A fantastic fit for the flaming fedora is the final evolution of our first fiery friend, Fuecoco. This ardent alligator is music to players' ears with its defensive bulk, base 110 Special Attack, and Torch Song, its signature Fire-type move that raises its special attack one stage every time it hits.
Skeledirge’s Ghost/Fire typing has a lot of offensive viability but leaves it open to Pokemon that it usually threatens, like Gholdengo and Flutter Mane. Removing its Ghost typing allows it to retain its offensive potential while continually increasing its Tera-Boosted damage with Torch Song. It’s a powerful combo that makes this crispy caroling crocodile a competent choice for the crimson crown.
5Koraidon
One answer for whom best to spend your Fire Tera shards is on the box itself! This mythical mock motorcycle is the latest legendary sun-setter, with the added bonus of boosting itself and other Paradox Pokemon through Protosynthesis in the harsh sunlight. While its Fighting/Dragon typing seems like a fun concept, it’s incredibly vulnerable to Fairy Types.

With threats like Flutter Mane receiving boosts in the sun, its typing hurts more than it helps in most situations. Given its access to Flamethrower, Koraidon can take advantage of the conditions it naturally sets by Terastallizing into a Fire-type. The damage output and defensive utility this legendary lizard receives makes a Fire-type Terastallization a fine addition to its flaming feathered crown.
4Sylveon
Of all the Eeveelutions, Sylveon has received the most love on the competitive ladder. This friendly fairy fox works best by combining its ability Pixilate, which turns Normal-type moves into Fairy, with the held Item Throat Spray, which gives a Special Attack boost after a sound-based move is used. When activated using Hyper Voice, Sylveon snowballs its damage with a base 90 Fairy type spread move.
Like all Fairy-types, it’s always one strong Steel type move away from being knocked out, but it can easily reverse that with the Fire Tera Crown. Since Tera Blast is affected by Pixilate, it retains its STAB boost outside Terastallization, making it an optimal option for the charred chapeau.
3Hatterene
While it may be difficult to squeeze another cap on this whimsical witch’s head, Hatterene is a perfect fit for the Fire Tera Crown. As one of the best Trick Room setters and sweepers of Gen 8, Hatterene has kept its momentum in the transition to Paldea.
As a Fire-Type, Hatterene resists its previous Steel and Poison-Type weakness, giving it the opportunity to set up a Trick Room. Once set, it can utilize its new typing offensively, as its base 136 Special Attack is the highest of any Pokemon with access to Mystical Fire. Its head may be a bit crowded with this crispy crown, but it certainly wears it well.
2Torkoal
Since its introduction, Torkoal has been a staple competitive Pokemon,despite being repeatedly overlookedby casual players. This torrid tortoise is an incredibly bulky special attacker that instantly sets up harsh sunlight when swapped in with its ability Drought. Since Paradox Pokemon with Protosynthesis get their highest stat boosted in the sun, Torkoal’s ability alone is vital.

However, the Fire crown makes this slow steamer incredibly threatening on its own. With Eruption, it can blast everything on the opposing side of the field with a base 150 power spread move boosted by both the sun and Terastallization. It’s a move that will knock the daylight out of anything on the other side of it, which is why it’s a prime pick for the Fire Tera Crown.
1Flutter Mane
Of all the Pokemon in Paldea, Flutter Mane tops the list as a Fire Tera user. Its Protosynthesis activates in the sun or when holding Booster Energy, boosting its Speed or Special Attack, dependent on which is higher. Still, with a base of 135 in both categories, this primordial poltergeist is a nightmare either way. As a Fairy/Ghost-type, its primary concerns are Poison, Steel, Ghost, and Dark-types, all of which are mitigated with a Fire-type Terastallization.
It’s also the second most powerful Special Attacker under Hatterene to learn Mystical Fire, but only by a point. Since it typically wants to be in the sun, it naturally finds itself in the perfect position to deal maximum damage, especially if Protosynthesis boosts its Special Attack. Its maxes out the offensive viability while providing similar benefits defensively, allowing this spicy specter to make the absolute most out of the charring crimson cap.
