Crown Zenith has arrived in thePokemon TCG, and with it comes all sorts of special and flashy cards for you to collect. This special collection set is different from regular sets in that many cards receive full art versions, have special upgrades like character signatures, and rarer cards have a higher chance of being opened in a pack than regular sets.

As an essential part of the Pokemon TCG, Trainer cards are front and center in Crown Zenith. With a high number of reprints with absolutely amazing new art, these cards are some of the rarest and most sought-after cards in the set. As it turns out, many of these chase cards are also incredibly powerful as well.

10Crushing Hammer

Despite the random element of Crushing Hammer, it remains an incredibly powerful Trainer card more often than not. The particularly powerful element of Crushing Hammer is if you win your coin flip, you can discard any type of Energy from your opponent’s Pokemon, not just a Basic or special. Particularly good in morecontrol-style Pokemon TCG decks, Crushing Hammer can deal a crushing blow to your opponent’s gameplay if you’re lucky enough.

Sometimes a Pokemon TCG match might not be going your way, and that’s where Cheren’s Care can help you recover the match. This Supporter Trainer takes a colorless Pokemon from your board and puts it back into your hand if it has any damage counters on it. Typically these cards come with the stipulation that you have to get rid of any and all cards attached to them, like Energies or Tools. With Cheren’s Care, however, you can start replaying the Pokemon you just picked up to get ready for your next turn.

8Leon

If you’re looking for a good way to push some extra damage, then look no further than the Supporter card Leon. This Trainer gives your Pokemon’s attacks a bonus of 30 damage on top of their normal attack amounts before taking Weakness and Resistance into consideration. Using Leon strategically can help you take out your opponent’s Pokemon that might be just out of reach.

This second printing of Leon also comeswith new artwork, showing Leon hanging out with his little brother Hop. It also features Leon’s signature on the card, a nice little bonus to help show off the celebrity status that trainers in the Galar region have.

There have been many cards printed in the Pokemon TCG that are asymmetrical draw cards. Often times they are only putting your opponent behind by one card. This doesn’t put them at a huge disadvantage, but also, when they draw their card at the start of the next turn, it’ll feel like they’re making a comeback. Not so with Roxanne. This trainer comes with the stipulation that your opponent has three or fewer Prize Cards left, but putting your opponent four cards behind you is a powerful effect.

This Supporter Trainer Card comes from the Galarian Gallery and helps you dig through a good chunk of cards until you find what you’re looking for. Once you play Colress’s Experiment, you get to look at the top five cards of your deck, keep three of them, and put the remaining two directly into the Lost Zone. While removing cards this way is a permanent effect, being able to pick and choose helps you pick the cards you truly need.

Melony is a great Supporter Trainer to use to help you catch up in a game or even when you’re ahead and want to secure a win. So long as you have Water Energy in your discard pile and a Pokemon V to attach it to, you can.

If you successfully do that, you get to draw three cards, digging deeper to find whatever answers might be hiding in your deck. While it comes with the stipulation that your target Pokemon must be a Pokemon V, it is a great way to recover some lost energy while refilling your hand.

Some of the best cards in the Pokemon TCG are Trainers which let you go digging through your deck for even more cards. Typically in the Pokemon TCG, these cards are either a direct trade, one card to search for one card, or put you at a deficit, like Ultra Ball, which has you discard two cards to get one. Iridia however, breaks this tradition by searching for both a Water-type Pokemon and an Item card and adding both to your hand. It is a Supporter, so you can only use one a turn, but it is still a powerful card to find the pieces you need.

When played correctly, Cynthia’s Ambition is a better version than the tried-and-true Professor’s Research Support Trainer card. Drawing until you have five cards in hand is not bad, but the real strength comes when you play Cynthia’s Ambition after you’ve had a Pokemon get Knocked Out during your opponent’s last turn. Under these conditions, you get to draw until you have eight cards in hand instead. Combined with other cards that let you discard cards or play with a mostly empty hand, Cynthia’s Ambition can help you come back from behind without the risk of losing the cards you still need.

Drawing cards in the Pokemon TCG is both super easy to do and feels great. With Gardenia’s Vigor Support Trainer card, you get to both draw cards and help accelerate yourself ahead in Energies. If you draw any cards off of Gardenia’s Vigor, you get to put two Grass Energies from your hand onto one of your Benched Pokemon, helping one of your Pokemon hit their Energy needs. While drawing two cards might feel less impactful than other Trainers that help you draw cards in Pokemon TCG, the Energy boost can help you quickly take out your opponent’s Pokemon.

1Sky Seal Stone

The latest entry in the Seal Stone cycle, Sky Seal Stone, is aPokemon Tool that providesa Pokemon V you control a special VSTAR Power. Once activated, you get to take an additional Prize Card if you Knock Out an opponent’s Active VSTAR or VMAX Pokemon. Sky Seal Stone is a touch more situational than its two other counterparts, but can easily help you win a game if played and activated at the right time.
