From its blend of Javanese culture to fantasy elements,Coral Islandhas plenty of hidden details and Easter eggs you can find if you know where to look, and it feels rewarding when you find something new. With Coral Island being in early access beta, many features still don’t work, or specific areas lead nowhere.

However, this is what you’d expect from an early-access game, and it doesn’t really hinder the farming and life simulation experience as much as you’d expect. The Coral Island players' community has been sharing their finds and theories about what the game devs might include next.

10Free Items

This is a genuinely hidden element of Coral Island that you’d likely never have known about unless you read an article like this or watched a guide. Go to the Coral Island sign on the diving docks, where you docked on your first day. Next to the sign, you’ll see a small basket. In the basket are free items you can get. One item is a painting that isn’t available in the game yet, and the other is a batik hanging furniture item.

These free items spawn roughly once a week. So, while you could use the furniture, you’re better off selling it as one batik hanging gets you around 900 gold. Often, the basket will drop two of these, so you’re able to easily get almost 2,000 gold for free every week!

9Gold Ore Boulder

To the northeast of the island is a huge boulder blocking the path. Players have reported being able to break the boulder with a bronze pickaxe or higher. By hitting the rock in a particular spot just to the right, you’ll hear a clank and see sparks before breaking the boulder. Depending on whether you haveunlocked the mastery tierfor the chance to receive double ore, you can get between ten and 20 gold ores, which can sell for a phenomenal amount in the game.

The area will also be unlocked, but currently, it only leads to a barren rock cliff that may presumably have features added to it in a future update.

8Hidden Vendor: Ratih’s Black Market

Early on in Coral Island, you’ll receive a mysterious letter in the mail that mentions, “The Lighthouse, M-T-TR, sundown.” This is a hidden vendor that only appears near the lighthouse docks on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays after 8pm. It’s easy to miss, as you don’t have a reason to venture around the Lighthouse, and the letter won’t be sent to you unless you don’t happen to run into Ratih’s boat by accident.

Ratih’s Black Market sells artifacts, geodes, fossils, coffers, and other rare items, some of which can only be obtained via this vendor.

7Ghost In Unlockable Area

When you complete all the offerings for the first altar, you’ll unlock a new area to the west of your farm near the bridge before the mines. Apart from this being the only area you may forage for ginseng, a ghost may appear randomly in the small cemetery near the large tree.

The ghost appears between 5:20pm and 11pm, and will drop seasonal items. It’s completely randomized with when it will appear, what seasonal items it will drop, and how many, so it’s worth running around the area at night if you have time to see what items you might get.

6Hidden Vendor: Ratih’s Float Market

You may miss this hidden vendor if you don’t run into them. Ratih’s Float Market appears on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 7:30 am - 12:00 (noon) and sells produce, artisan products, and seeds.

If you buy any artisan products, they will remain sold out until the store refreshes the following Tuesday. However, any seeds you buy are reset for the next day. Seed availability is also based on your town rank, but it is the same price as the seeds sold at Sam’s General Store.

5Strange Impacts On Your Farm

Occasionally, during the night, you’ll see your house shake, and a message will come up saying you felt a large impact during the night. When this happens, explore your farm, and you’ll find either a giant meteor or large satellite debris.

The satellite debris can be mined with any pickaxe level to obtain batteries. Currently, batteries don’t have any use forcraftingyet, so it’s worth saving them for future updates. Depending on how much your pickaxe is upgraded, you may mine bronze, silver, gold, or osmium ore from the fallen meteors.

4Hidden Vendor: Concerned Monkey

The third hidden vendor can be missed if you don’t explore the area outside the mines. When you’re at the entrance to the mines, turn left, and you’ll soon come across a small cabin with a monkey sitting at the window.

The Concerned Monkey vendor sells cosmetic items such as hats, furniture, seeds, and even a panda suit worth 10,000 gold. It is likely a nod to Eric Barone, also known as Concerned Ape, the creator of Stardew Valley.

3Finding Ore Veins

You might notice a veiny-looking mark on the ground when you’re down in the mines. Make sure you hit these with your pickaxe, as this is an ore vein you’ve found. When you hit it, a line will travel along the ground to another point you can hit with your axe. This may happen two or three times before you reach a large-looking ground marking.

When you hit this with your pickaxe, you’ll find a cache of ore. Early in yourmine exploration, this is a great way to quickly obtain lots of bronze ore for your tool upgrades and crafting.

2Musical Clamshell

After you progress through the first turtle when you’re diving, you’ll come across a giant, decorative clamshell. There are five buttons in front of it, and when you pass over each one, a different musical note will play.

It appears to be a puzzle, but currently, at early access, it doesn’t work. This will likely come upon official release or in a future update. Nevertheless, it’s fun to play around with, and wonder what kind of reward you’ll get for solving this puzzle.

1Merfolk

With the exploration diving quests, Into the Ocean and Exploring the Ocean, you’ll need to activate 20 solar orbs each. You’ll trigger a sea quake near a mystery door when you do. As you approach this area, you’ll meet two merfolk who thank you for helping to clean the sea with their ancient technology.

Currently, there are only two merfolk you meet: Agnung and Denali. Apparently, there are two romanceable merfolk, but developers haven’t confirmed if Agnung and Denali are the two characters.
