The Water Tower questinDying Light 2is one of the more significant parts of the main storyline that involves choices that would decide the fate of the characters. In addition, the quest’s final phase will also spring upon a choice that would seal your fate with either faction. We suggest you tread upon this slippery slope with caution and do not make any hasty choices you might regret later.

The beginning of this quest entailsSophietelling you another way of entering the“Central Loop”if you help her instead of the Peacekeepers. You will be asked to go to the water tower and deal withJack andJoe.
Reach The Water Tower
Track the location from your journal and make your way there. While traveling,Hakanwill ping Aiden on the radio to fill him in on the situation. Upon reaching, deal with the infected ahead of the entrance, and lock pickthe door to enter the water tower.
Find And Disarm The Explosives
Upon entering, you’ll find out that the tower has beenrigged with explosivesby Jack and Joe. You will need to findthreeexplosives in total, placed on different floors of the water tower.
Bomb #1
The first explosive is right ahead of you, on a red and white barrel.Interact with it to disarm it.
Bomb #2
The next one requires climbing. Jump on thetwo white containersonto the next floor. Jump on theyellow ledges and other platformsto reach the location indicated by the objective marker.
You will find the second bomb hindered by awooden barrier. Break it and reach the explosives. Interact with them to disarm this one again.
Bomb #3
From there on,climb upwards on theyellowish rails above the area where you disarmed the bombs.
Once you are at the last rail, you can see anopen window directly opposite. Make a jump to reach the next floor. Parkour your way to the objective marker, and you will end up in theWater Tank room. Disable the last explosive by interacting with it.
Deal With Jack And Joe
Climb up the water tower further to the objective marker where Jack and Joe are. Once you confront them, you will be presented with the firstset of choices, of which the resulting dialogue is the same and hasno effect on the story whatsoever. After that,you are going to make one of the two choices that will decide Jack and Joe’s fate:
I Will Help You
Choosing this will result in both leaving without a fight, and you’re able to progress with the quest further. However, this does unlock the side story“Moonshine”later, which lets you get to know both characters better.
I Won’t Help You
This choice will result in them throwing hands, and you will end up killing them to progress further.
Get The Water Flowing Again
After dealing with them,approach the pump to activate it. From there on, you will be presented with a major story choice toassign the water tower to either the Survivors or the Peacekeepers.
This will have amajor impact on the story, as both choices will unlock different story quests later on. So, think carefully about which faction you want to side with.
Search Barney’s Hideout
This objective will also play out according to the choice you made in assigning the water tower. But for now,just descend the tower and follow the marker to a motel where Barney is staying.
Once in the apartment, interact with awooden door next to the neon sign “Tavern Bar”. You will find a piece ofCommander Lucas’sskin, an incredibly important murder clue. Soon after, Barney appears in the apartment. This is where the choice you made previously made shows its effect.
Water Tower Assigned To Survivors
Barney is enraged that you are searching in his apartment. A mini-boss fight will begin with him, which luckily doesn’t end up in you killing him.Sophiewill intervene after his health drops to a certain level. She stops both of you from fighting, and you are prompted to another objective“Wait for Sophie’s Call.”
You will need to wait around10-20 minutesto get the call, in which she tells you to meet her at Bazaar. Head over there to meet her and end the quest.
Water Tower Assigned To Peacekeepers
The same pattern will be followed as above when investigating the hideout. However, once Barney’s health drops to a certain level, you will beinterrupted by Aitor and the Peacekeepers, who arrest Barney. After which, Aitor will tell you to meet him at thePeacekeepers Metro Station.
Make your way over to the Metro Station. You will find Barney being interrogated there, where he claims to be wrongly accused of murder. A short cutscene will be played here, and it will mark the end of the quest.
