Suicide Squad Isekai premiere recap
Suicide Squad Isekai premiered with Harley Quinn in her usual chaotic stride, wreaking havoc alongside her partner-in-crime, the Joker. But their criminal spree was cut short by an unexpected twist of events, landing Harley in the notorious Belle Reve supervillain prison.
This high-security facility housed supervillains and metahumans, and it’s where Amanda Waller, the mastermind behind Task Force X, set her sights on Harley for a unique mission.
Joining Harley were a motley crew — Deadshot, the cold-eyed marksman; Clayface, the shapeshifting enigma; Peacemaker, the soldier with a twisted sense of justice; and King Shark, the monstrously intelligent shark-man.
True to Suicide Squad form, Waller maintained control with remote explosives implanted in their necks, forcing them to complete a mission for their freedom. Unfortunately, their plans went awry.
Their transport helicopter got shot down, and they found themselves in a fantastical world, unlike anything they’d ever encountered. Here, human knights desperately defended a castle from a horde of orcs.
Episode 2 delves deeper into this strange new world. The kingdom is ruled by Queen Aldora, who is locked in a long-standing war with the orcs. Captured by the kingdom’s forces, Harley and the Squad confront the formidable magical powers at play. It’s here they encounter Rick Flag, an A.R.G.U.S. agent who hails from their original world like them.
Flag reveals a shocking truth: they aren’t the first group sent here. He was part of an earlier team tasked with making first contact. Waller and the government are seeking off-world resources, explaining their mission. With Flag’s help, the Squad stages a daring prison escape.
Episode 3 finds the group at the royal castle, seeking an audience with the princess who yearns for peace. Flag explains their interdimensional origins, and Peacemaker proposes a deal to end the war. Aldora, distrustful, takes Flag hostage and sets a new test for the Squad.
Flag attempts to negotiate a different path, proposing to help Aldora against other factions ruled by individuals from their world. Aldora, intrigued, accepts the offer. Flag becomes her hostage, leaving the Squad to wage war under the queen’s banner.
Meanwhile, Deadshot encounters a familiar face: Ratcatcher, the one responsible for brainwashing the werewolves plaguing the kingdom.
Deadshot, unaware of Ratcatcher’s true feelings, believes he helped them during their imprisonment. Infuriated by this perceived betrayal, Ratcatcher seeks revenge.
Just as Deadshot confronts Ratcatcher, Katana intervenes, saving Deadshot and escaping with him.
