Tales Ofis a long-running and popular series in Japan, but not many of its titles have made their way to Western shores quite yet. This is rather unfortunate for fans of the games we have received so far, which have been rather popular.

However, it seems they’re not popular enough to convince Bandai Namco to launch them globally. There are many Tales games that, for one reason or another, have their feet firmly planted only in Japan, which is a shame. These are the Tales Of games that never got Western launches, and probably never will.
10Tales Of Destiny 2
Tales of Destiny 2 is quite possibly the most confusing Tales launch in the West — namely because it isn’t Tales of Destiny 2 at all. The game that we know as Tales of Destiny 2 is actually a game called Tales of Eternia. It has no affiliation with the Destiny storyline at all, besides the fact that it is a Tales game.
Because of this interesting choice of names, we probably never will get the real Tales of Destiny 2, with the Destiny storyline fated to ever remain incomplete in the West.
9Tales Of Rebirth
Tales of Rebirth is another entry we were unfortunate enough to never get our hands on in the West. It was originally launched on the PS2 in 2004 and later on the PSP. Rebirth’s battle system was also interesting.
The regular battle system was still utilized in this game, but it did introduce some new elements in the form of placement. There were three planes you could situate your party on, and you could shuffle these around to optimize your attacks. For example, you could place all three in a row for the ultimate attack force, or split them up so they could individually take on separate enemies.
8Tales Of Innocence
Tales of Innocence was the first Nintendo DS entry in the series, and later also made its way onto the PlayStation Vita. The story tackles the idea of otherness as people start randomly becoming endowed with special powers. Some react in fear, and are ordered to capture and arrest everyone with these special abilities.
This title is sorely missed in the West due to its interesting and always-relevant storyline of accepting those who are different. Tales games are also great on handheld consoles, and this would make a perfect addition to the Nintendo Switch. But alas, it will more than likely remain a Japan exclusive.
7Tales Of The Tempest
Tales of the Tempest didn’t sell very well in Japan, so never launched in the West. It was pretty short, and didn’t quite match the rest of the series' quality. It was for this reason that it was also quietly brushed under the rug with the rest of the spin-off titles.

The battle system was quite interesting, though, and used a plane mechanic similar to the one in Tales of Rebirth. Your party could also transform by unleashing their Beast Mode, which is obviously awesome.
6Tales Of Vs.
Everyone loves a good fighting game spin-off. Many different series have them, from Dragon Ball to Castlevania, Sonic the Hedgehog to even Nickelodeon. And so did the Tales series, although the West may never get the chance to play it.
Due to the limited Tales launches in the West so far, we probably wouldn’t recognize all the fighters. Bandai Namco’s call to not launch Tales of Vs. does make sense, but it doesn’t mean we’re happy about it.
5Tales Of The Heroes: Twin Brave
If you’ve ever played a Dynasty Warriors game or any of the other spin-offs in that series, you will be dismayed to hear that Tales has its own. Warriors titles are extremely fun, fast-paced, beat ‘em ups where you take on hordes of enemies at once, and they quite possibly have some of the most satisfying gameplay out there.
FromHyrule WarriorstoFire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopesand One Piece Warriors, these are all games that could tide you over and ease the pain of not being able to play Tales of Heroes: Twin Brave. However, they’re certainly not the same without all the Tales characters.
4Tales Of The World: Radiant Mythology 2 & 3
Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology did make it to the West, but if you were wondering how the story ends, then that’s too bad — the second and third installments are yet to follow suit. These spin-offs are dungeon crawlers where you meet popular characters from the series along your adventures.

They did sell very well in Japan, but the first installment in the West didn’t necessarily fly off the shelves of your local games store. As such, Bandai Namco decided not to localize the rest.
3The Tales Of Narikiri Dungeon Games
The Tales of Narikiri Dungeon games were dungeon crawler spin-offs that came out before the Radiant Mythology titles. The first entry in the series was actually a sequel to the very first Tales game, Tales of Phantasia.
It may seem like an odd sort of game to be a sequel to Phantasia, especially since it takes place over 200 years after the original game’s events. But you can’t deny that dungeon crawlers are great fun, and with the bonus of Tales characters, it’s hard to say no. Sadly, that decision was made for us, as none of the Narikiri Dungeon series have ever been seen in the West.
2Tales Of Eternia Online
The Tales series is incredibly popular and has been a significant part of the gaming market in Japan for many years. You could also say that the Tales series has its fingers in a lot of pies. It should come as no surprise, then, that there is also a Tales MMORPG that has never seen the light of day in the West.
Having a place where all Tales fans could gather and battle it out together against enemies would be undeniably cool. And although it may be unlikely, just cross your fingers and toes that it will make it to the West one day.
1Tales Of Tactics
For every popular and long-running series, there is a mobile game. Tales of Tactics combines beloved Tales characters with another extremely popular genre, the tactical RPG, to create a mobile game that definitely beats Candy Crush.
Tactical RPGs are not new in any sense of the word. But with the launch ofTriangle Strategy,Fire Emblem Engage, andMario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope, they do seem to be on the rise. A tactical Tales mobile game may be quite popular in the West — If we ever see it, that is.
