Out of the warrior classes in theFire Emblemseries, the Myrmidon class provides some of the fiercest warriors to recruit to your team. Consisting of swordsmen, Myrmidons usually upgrade to Swordmasters, but also have the potential to become Assassins or Masters of Arms in select Fire Emblem titles.

The Myrmidon class also has some ties to the Mercenary class, reflected in some Myrmidon characters’ background. While Myrmidons may not have the best Strength and Defense stats, they make up for it through their Speed, Skill, and ability to land powerful critical counterattacks. Among the Fire Emblem series, several Myrmidons stand out as excellent characters.

8Navarre

Navarre, who debuted in the first Fire Emblem game, Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light, is the ultimate Myrmidon. While his original base class in the first game is Mercenary, his unique stats and fighting style led to the creation of the Myrmidon class. Fittingly, in the remake of the original game, Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon, Myrmidon is his base class.

Also known as the “Scarlet Sword,” Navarre is a mercenary by trade and a strong, silent type. He can be a callous killer, but has a noble streak in him, making him a complex and interesting character.

7Guy

Guy is a Myrmidon from Fire EmblemThe Blazing Blade. You meet him about halfway through the game as an enemy, who you can recruit to your army. He’s driven by his desire to become the greatest swordsman in the world, which he eventually becomes, according to the game’s default ending.

When he’s recruited, Guy is a strong member to have in combat initially. However, his stats grow at a low rate, so it takes patience to shape him into a long-term asset for your army.

6Mia

In Fire Emblem Path of Radiance, Mia is one of the Myrmidons you can recruit in the seventh chapter of the game. While her stats and growth rate make her a tricky character to use effectively, her high Speed allows her to flit around the battlefield quickly and out-move most enemies.

Mia is also one of the best female characters in the Fire Emblem series, as she’s emphatic that women can fight, too. She’s always up for a spar, seeking to become the best swordswoman out there.

5Joshua

One of the most intriguing Myrmidons ofthe Fire Emblem seriesis Joshua, from Fire Emblem The Sacred Stones. Not only is he an excellent asset to your army in the game, but he also has a memorable personality and interesting backstory that set him apart from other sword wielders.

Over the course of The Sacred Stones, Joshua is revealed to be the prince of Jehanna, and in the game’s ending, becomes an excellent king. This is somewhat surprising, as he’s also shown to be a terrible gambler and cares little for royal life.

4Marisa

Marisa is another Myrmidon from Fire Emblem The Sacred Stones, and while she is a good compliment to Joshua’s battle prowess, she can be harder to use and level up quickly. Still, she is a valuable swordswoman for your army.

Marisa also has an interesting backstory, growing up with a harsh father who pushed her to become the greatest warrior. She can be socially awkward as a result of this difficult childhood, but it motivates her to become even better than her dad with the sword.

3Edward

One of the starting characters in Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn, the Myrmidon Edward is a cheerful, excitable swordsman with humble origins. He’s a member of the Dawn Brigade, who he sticks with throughout the adventure of the game. What makes him intriguing is his motivations: rather than becoming the best with the sword, he simply wants to do the right thing and prefers peace to violence.

Edward has some strong stats that make him a menace on the battlefield. Compared to other Myrmidons, he grows fairly quickly in his Strength stat, allowing him to make great attacks.

2Hisame

Hisame starts out as a Samurai, the Myrmidon equivalent in Fire Emblem Fates. As one of the child characters, his starting stats vary, but depending onyour strategy and route, he can be an excellent addition to your team.

What makes Hisame such an interesting character, though, is his interests and personality. His biggest character quirk is his love of pickles, which he makes and defends against any and all slander. It’s a funny aspect of his character that makes him endearing. He also embraces a life of scholarship in all of his possible good endings.

1Owain

Though Owain appears in a few Fire Emblem games, it is only inFire Emblem Awakeningand the spin-off Fire Emblem Warriors that he appears as a Myrmidon by default. He is one of the Fire Emblem series’ most memorable characters, known for his larger than life energy and dramatic statements.

As a part of his heroic image, Owain claims he has a sword hand with uncontrollable power, which he goes on a quest post-Awakening to learn how to control. Even though his claims of uncontrollable power are merely part of his persona, he truly is a fearsome swordsman, wielding his personal sword, Missiletainn, in battle.
