Spells are some of the most important cards in the game ofYu-Gi-Oh!Spell card effects can vary from searching the deck to fusing your monsters together instantly. Without a negate on board, spell cards can be quite powerful and difficult to stop — especially when using Quick Play spells that can be triggered like regular spells or set like Trap cards.

In Battles of Legend: Crystal Revenge, many popular Spell cards were reprinted. They were either given brand-new rarities or a simple reprint to make the card a bit more accessible to players. Most of these Spell cards are quite important to the game in its current metagame, so reprints like these are always greatly appreciated

10Super Polymerization

A great tool for most Fusion-based decks, Super Polymerization is an amazing card. Not only can it summon a monster from your Extra Deck, but it can also deal with a problematic card on your opponent’s board, since Super Polymerization is not targeting the card or attempting to destroy it.

In the current metagame of huge boards with multiple negates, a card like Super Polymerization will always be invaluable in situations where a card cannot be outed.

9Salamangreat Circle

Salamangreat Circle had a lofty spot on the Forbidden and Limited List for the longest time. A card that acts as a Reinforcement Of The Army for the archetype, with effect protection built-in, is extremely strong on a Quick Play Spell. This is especially true in a deck like Salamangreat where there is barely any card protection, and every other card in the deck is part of a long and winding combo that can be interrupted at any point.

Circle is an amazing card, and this reprint is incredible since the card was only previously available in the Soulburner Structure Deck which has been out of print for a while now.

8Rainbow Bridge

Just like Pot of Greed, sometimes cards with barely any text are the most powerful. The only thing that Rainbow Bridge does is grab a Crystal Spell or Trap card from the deck. What makes this card so powerful is the number of valid targets that Rainbow Bridge has.

7Toon Page-Flip

Coming from one of the best arcs, and giving us some of thebest tag team duels, Toons have always been a fan favorite from the Duel Monsters era of Yu-Gi-Oh! So, the fact that there hasn’t been much support for it feels a bit disappointing. With Battles of Legend: Crystal Revenge, one of the best cards in the Toon deck gets reprinted. Toon Page-Flip is a great card for the archetype, since it can recruit a Toon Monster from the deck for free.

The only downside is that you have to let your opponent decide which Toon to summon from a choice of three. However, depending on their choices, you can wreak havoc on the field by using tools not available to Toons upon their release, like Xyz Summoning and even Link Summoning.

6Fusion Destiny

Sadly, Hero isKonami’s favorite least favorite archetype. Constantly releasing cards like A Hero Lives and Destiny Hero: Destroyer Phoenix Enforcer, the Hero archetype has gotten some powerful tools to keep it in contention in the upper echelons of the Yu-Gi-Oh! competitive list.

There always comes a time when a strong card is released, like Fusion Destiny, that players end up finding how to break completely — even to the point of using Hero cards splashed into random decks. The versatility of Fusion Destiny being able to Fusion Summon from the deck is unmatched. Fusion Destiny gives you a turn-one Destroyer Phoenix Enforcer.

5Frightfur Patchwork

The best cards in the game are the ones that net you card advantage, whether it be in your hand or field, and Frightfur Patchwork is one of them. Initially created to support the Frightfur archetype, a group of cards based on possessed stuffed animals that are as cute as they are scary, Patchwork is used to speed up the engine by quickly searching for a copy of Polymerization and an Edge Imp card.

Even though it seems like a self-contained archetype, players were quick to realize the subtle synergy that the Frightfur package and Despia/Albaz decks have to create strong floodgate monsters.

4EN Shuffle

One big problem with the Hero archetype is that for you to activate all the Heroes' powerful effects, you have to find all the different combo routes to cycle through all the cards — and still end on a board big enough to be able to threaten a victory next turn. The combos are also susceptible to the myriad of hand traps in the game.

EN Shuffle helps the deck get started a bit faster. Once the Hero on the field has fully resolved its effect, you can simply use EN Shuffle to replace it with another Hero from the deck — similar to Gladiator Beasts. It can also recycle some resources, like your copies of Elemental Hero Stratos.

3Clockwork Night

Earth Machines is a deck that has flown under the radar of many players. People were very keen on the deck when the Therion cards were released, but the deck failed to make any huge waves in the competitive scene. With the release of Clockwork Night in Crystal Revenge, the deck gets a much-needed power-up.

Besides being another form of search for the Earth Machines deck, it acts as a sort of Field Spell by powering up your Machines. It weakens your opponent’s monsters by turning them into Machines and lowering their Attack and Defense, making it easier for you to beat them — and harder for them to be able to summon any non-generic Extra Deck monsters.

2Chaos Space

Just like Toons, Chaos is a legacy archetype that is aching for some new support cards. In Crystal Revenge you may find Chaos Space, and although not a new card to the archetype, it has become more accessible due to its reprint in the set.

Chaos was an unstoppable deck in the early years of Yu-Gi-Oh! with cards like Chaos Sorcerer and Dark Magician of Chaos, but sadly the Chaos cards have all been power-crept — making the archetype borderline extinct. That is not to say that Chaos Space is a useless card. It still sees some play in Dark Magician decks, to be able to cycle Dark Magician cards from the Graveyard.

1Toon Bookmark

Toon Bookmark is one of the most essential cards for the Toon deck. Combined with Terraforming, Toon Bookmark gives you even more ways to find your copy of Toon World or the better Toon Kingdom in your deck. Toon Bookmark also offers a layer of protection for your Toon World after it has been used.

Cards like Toon Dark Magician can use their effects to let you discard Toon Bookmark, in case you already have a Toon World in play. This immediately triggers Bookmark’s protection effect, making the synergy and mayhem of the Toons rule over the field.
