Even though Overland isn’t purely about fighting your way through hordes of Bugs, it’s best to know what type of weapons you should be on the lookout for. Of course, you won’t be able to kill every single one of them, but you might as well do the most damage to the ones you have in your way.
10Branch
Sticks and stones might break some bones, but they aren’t the best weapon to pick from in Overland. Even though you’ll never be without one on the map, know that unless you try to take out the primary form of Bugs, the weapon is just some extra weight in your inventory. It has a durability of two before it breaks.
Even though it isn’t a great weapon, you can transform it into a makeshift torch if you need it. verify you have a source of fire or a survivor with Flammable, and you’re all set to build your torch.
9Bottle
Remnants of the times when civilization still roamed freely in American cities, Bottles are found mainly in City biomes. If you throw the object, it will break on impact and create noise, so be careful.
The best course of action would be to use an action to fill it up with gasoline and cook yourself a Flammable Bottle, which can then become a fancy Molotov cocktail.
8Torch
You can’t see much in Overland when it’s night, so keep the night excursions to a minimum unless you have the appropriate lighting. The Torch is also a good weapon because you can burn your enemies and set the ground ablaze.
Remember, you can’t take the Torch inside your car, so you must use it on your current map. Also, be careful —fire kills friendlies as well.A Fire Extinguisher is the only thing you can use to put out a fire, which is also an okay weapon. Both have a durability of four.
7Rock
There are loads of Rocks scattered across the Mountain region in Overland, and this little throwable object can be helpful while trying to survive your endless journey across America. As it is a rock, it doesn’t break when you throw it, so it is virtually indestructible.

The Rock can also break locks in the game, but be cautious because it makes a lot of noise. The last thing you want is any nasty surprises now, do you?
6Machete
This sturdy Machete will be a lifesaver in certain situations; it is excellent for taking down more substantial Bugs and can also be used to break locks and barriers. Now that is some multi-functional weapon right there.
Even though it only has a durability of four, and the damage output depends on how much durability you have left, it’s an excellent weapon to bring along if you find it on your journey across the US of A. It’ll really get you out of some tight spots.
5Flammable Bottle
The Flammable Bottle is nothing other than a standard Bottle filled with gas. You can throw it toward an enemy to make the tile it’s standing on flammable. Maybe you want to play the long game and try to block off specific Bugs; in that case, calculate the best fire spread.
If you don’t want to think too far ahead, you might want to turn it into a Molotov cocktail to start doing damage as soon as possible.
4Pipe
Here we’ve got the first unbreakable melee weapon on our list, which is a great feature to keep an eye out for. With the Pipe stored, you know you’ll be able to take down Bugs in a couple of swoops, and just like the Machete, you’ll be able to break locks and barriers.
The only downside is that the Pipe makes a lot of noise when you’re using it, and noise brings out the Bugs. Ideally, you want fewer Bugs on the map, so less noise means a safer trip.
3Molotov
An old-time favorite in the post-apocalyptic genre is the Molotov cocktail. Of course, you know what it’s capable of, but in Overland, you must be a little more careful when deciding when to use it. First, you need a fire source or the Ignite ability to turn a Flammable Bottle into a Molotov.

Second, you need to be careful as the fire spreads quickly. Unless you have a Fire Extinguisher, you might cook yourself and your friendlies up as well as the Bugs on the field.
2Flare Gun
The one and only actual long-range weapon in the game is also one of the best to pick up: the Flare Gun. If you’re lucky enough to find this weapon in your playthrough, keep those two shots it comes equipped with for extreme occasions.
Don’t forget that it can also destroy portal tiles, so do not waste your shots on petty enemies unless you are in a dire situation. The only reason it isn’t the best weapon is because of the fire spread it causes, putting everyone in danger.
1Hatchet
No doubt one of the best Melee weapons the game has to offer, the Hatchet is going to be your new best friend. Of course, that is after any furry doggo you find along your journey. Apart from that, the Hatchet is great at dealing damage, and is one of the most silent weapons you may use.
Plus, it’s nice and sharp, making it great for breaking barriers and locks. You might leave a Hatchet on a map if you’re in a life-or-death situation, but you should instead make sure to pick it up whenever you may.
