10Liliana Of The Veil Boxtopper - $218.59
Starting off this list is the Ultimate Masters Boxtopper version of Liliana of the Veil.Arguably the best Liliana card printed, the Boxtopper edition is the only way to get the borderless version with this art.
Since its printing, Liliana of the Veil has been a staple in Magic, popping up across most formats and ripping cards from your opponent’s hands ever since. Ultimate Masters was a celebration of 25 years of Magic, so the chances of an Ultimate Masters 2 or a reprinting of this particular Boxtopper is low.
9Teferi, Time Raveler JP Alternate Art Prerelease - $223.63
Quickly after its printing, Teferi, Time Raveler’s high power became evident. This version of Teferi with artwork from Shishizaru is the prerelease promo of the Japanese alternate art from War of the Spark. Even though Teferi is banned in both Pioneer and Explorer, this special printing keeps its value among collectors and players alike.
If you’re looking to upgrade your blue/white control decks or are trying to hunt down all the Japanese Alt-Art cards, Teferi will make a nice addition to your collection.
8Ajani, Caller Of The Pride SDCC 2013 Exclusive - $231.19
Way back in 2013, Magic: The Gathering introduced an exclusive set of planeswalkers at San Diego Comic-Con. These cards feature an incredibly stylish “black-on-black” type of artwork by Steve Prescott. These planeswalkers were eventually released in the Magic 2014 Core Set but allowed players a chance to own the cards before they were released in packs.

This version of Ajani features a stunning gold sun behind him, with his one eye glowing gold against the black background of the card. If you’re looking to spice up your Cat-themed deck, then this all-black Ajani can add some class.
7Chandra, Pyromaster SDCC 2013 Exclusive - $241.28
Another card from the San Diego Comic-Con 2013 collection, this version of Chandra, Pyromancer features the fiery mage in the black-on-black style. The fire from Chandra’s hair and hands is in a special red foil, separating them from the background.
This version of Chandranever saw a ton of play in Constructed formats, but does bring some powerful options in Commander. If you want to show off with your red-based Commander deck then this Chandra is the way to go.
6Karn, The Great Creator JP Alternate Art Prerelease - $294.50
The War of the Spark planeswalkers take several spots on this list, featuring some absolutely amazing art from some of the most popular illustrators from Japan. Karn, the Great Creator was done by Naochika Morishita, a popular artist with work featured heavily in other trading card games.
This Karn is also a fantastic way to shut down your opponents by turning off all their artifacts, while letting you pull them from your sideboard for all sorts of shenanigans.
5Gideon Blackblade JP Alternate Art Prerelease - $337.98
The last planeswalker card for our sacrificial hero, Gideon Blackblade features another incredible alternate art from Japanese illustrator Tada, who has previously done work for other trading card games. This Gideon has a unique and powerful ability to turn itself into a 4/4 creature during your turn, helping you to push damage while protecting your creatures.

Wielding the legendary Blackblade, the art for this alternate version has Gideon descending onto an enemy, ready to slice them open with one destructive slash.
4Jace, Memory Adept SDCC 2013 Exclusive - $344.37
This collector’s edition Jace, Memory Adept also comes from the same San Deigo Comic-Con as Ajani and Chandra before. Featuring the iconic black card with black borders, this Jace has his mystical energies flowing off in a blue foil.
This version of Jaceis focused on milling your opponents, partially with its second ability which costs nothing to activate and hits a whopping ten cards. While this particular Jace doesn’t see much play, it can be a powerful and pricey addition to your mill deck.
3Nissa, Who Shakes The World JP Alternate Art Prerelease - $369.96
Nissa, Who Shakes The World is one of the best planeswalkers to come out of War of the Spark, and has one of the best alternate art illustrations among planeswalkers from the set. Hitowa did the illustration for this Nissa, having previously worked on other trading card games and mobile games.
Prominently featuring Nissa channeling magic through her staff, this Nissa displays the animist’s control over nature.
2Narset, Parter Of Veils JP Alternate Art Prerelease - $779.39
The last and most valuable of the Japanese alternate art prerelease cards, Narset, Parter of Veils is a powerhouse of a card and features some of the best artwork from the War of the Spark alternate cards.
This Narset is illustrated by Foo Midori, who has worked on novels, trading card games, video games, and even the official illustrations for the Vocaloid character Sachiko. Midori also did the alternate art of Teyo, the Shieldmage from the same collection.
1Liliana Of The Dark Realms SDCC 2013 Exclusive - $849.99
The most valuable planeswalker of them all might not be too surprising, but the SDCC 2013 all-black version of Liliana of the Dark Realms takes the top spot. The only color on this card is a special purple foiling of the etchings of power burned into her skin by The Chain Veil.
Liliana of the Veil has maintained a good value since its release thanks to its power in formats like Commander, making the SDCC version all the more valuable among players.
