If we were all totally honest with ourselves, we’d all admit to having a few odd Google searches thanks to video games. It’s unavoidable, especially when a few of the more creative games makesome difficult and unique puzzles. All it takes is a certain kind of fantasy setting or situation to ensure a weird Google search.

Everyone has probably Googled a few key things like, “How many rings can Sonic actually carry?” or “How does Mario not hurt himself while he’s smashing through solid bricks?” but the really fun searches come when we get stuck. Sometimes searching for an answer you aren’t aware of is tough, and that might lead to a few interesting choices in keywords.

10How Do I Beat The Wonder Twins? - Dark Souls

Admittedly, this Google search wouldn’t have been so strange had I actually remembered the names of one of the most infamous bosses of the originalDark Souls, Ornstein and Smough. Yes, their names are above their health bars, but blind rage from a 20th attempt at beating them kept me from remembering that.

Things got even worse when the majority of the answers I found involved telling me to simply get good and thatthe bosses were just misunderstood. I did eventually get good (or lucky) and took the out after brute forcing my way through the boss fight, but I’ll always remember that Google search.

9Why Does The Water Temple Hate Me? - Ocarina Of Time

This search may have come more from desperation and sadness than anything else, but it’s still one that a lot of people can probably relate to.Ocarina of Time’sWater Temple can be a bit frustrating, thanks to the constant equipment swapping, but for me, the worst part has always been the keys.

Even now, I couldn’t tell you how many small keys are found throughout the dungeon, because I’ve never actually gotten them all in one go. I always miss at least one, sending me on the saddest little round trip of the temple anyone’s ever seen.

8Is Calling A Ghost Cheating? - Dark Souls 3

Everyone got into the Dark Souls series at different times. While many picked up the original first, I picked up Bloodborne and worked my way backward through the developer’s line-up. When I reachedDark Souls 3, I was stumped by a few bosses, and remembered summons were a thing.

Summoning the Sword Master in Dark Souls 3

I was just worried, as I had been told by a friend to not summon anyone as it would “take away from the experience.” Well, not being able to get through the game takes away from the experience too, so I took to Google to ask if summoning a ghost was cheating. It’s not, despite what many diehard fans will say.

7Do I Have To Be Friends With Everyone? - Mass Effect 2

When I first played throughMass Effect 2, I was aware of one key thing. The final level is a suicide missionin which you can lose most of your squad if you don’t play your cards right. Not wanting to lose my favorites, Grunt, Garrus, and Tali, I took to Google for a little help after trying a few times and losing a few people.

I’ll be honest, Miranda and Jacob just weren’t my kind of people, so I wasn’t interested in their loyalty missions. Of course, for the best outcomes, I had to swallow my pride and be friends with the Cerberus employees, even if they are a bit bland when compared to the various alien species to befriend.

6How Do I Make Mike Tyson Stop Hurting Me? - Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out

Why Google the easy thing when you can Google the fun thing? When attempting to beatMike Tyson’s Punch-Out, I learned very quickly that Mike Tyson does not like to lose. I really had no idea how to survive the onslaught that came in the opening round.

There are some major tips that are next to impossible to figure out without any kind of guide, so at the very least, my pitiful Google search actually ended up helping out. I never did beat Mike Tyson, but it’s the thought that counts.

5How Do You Drive? - Driver

It’s a tutorial level that lives in infamy. The opening segment of Driver has been seen as so hard that many people completely gave up on the game, and when I gave it a shot, I was ready to do the same thing.

I consider myself to be a pretty good driver, but this game made me question that. Just getting past the tutorial was so tough I had no other option but to simply Google how to drive in Driver. From what I hear, the rest of the game is actually quite fun, but I’ll never know.

4How Do You Make The Simon Says Pillars Happy? - Knights Of The Old Republic

This Google search actually came more from not knowing the actual name of the puzzle I was taking… or the dungeon I was in…or what planet I was on. It was a rough time to play throughKnights Of The Old Republic.

Everyone is aware of the tower puzzle often featured in BioWare games, and everyone knows it’s a pain. I threw myself at the puzzle for far too long before I finally caved and searched for an answer. Spoiler alert — the puzzle was not nearly satisfying enough to warrant the difficulty.

3Why Do The Statues Hate Me? - Twilight Princess

Much like the Water Temple in Ocarina Of Time, the Zelda series has many other games that are home to difficult puzzles. One of the trickiest is in Twilight Princess, just before you’re able to get your hands on the Master Sword.

You’re tasked with getting two statues into specific spots, but the twist is one will move whenever the other is moved. After enough time flailing around, I had no choice but to Google why statues hate me, and surprisingly, the solution to the puzzle actually showed up.

If you’re anything like me, you hate clowns. Another way you might be like me is that you had a tough time dealing with the clown boss inDead Rising. I don’t have anything against normal clowns. I simply hate the creepy kind.

Unfortunately, the clown featured in Dead Rising is of the creepy variety, and one that just kept handing me my butt on a silver platter. I don’t feel bad about the search because there are probably normal people who hate clowns in general who have searched the same thing.

1Is The Hallway Supposed To Do That? - P.T.

If you’re one of the lucky people who got to tackleP.T.while it was available, you may have had no clue what was going on the entire time. As that is the case for me in most games, it was doubly true when I played the delightful playable teaser.

The issue was, I had no idea what progression looked like in the game, or even if progression was actually taking place. I remember taking to the internet to ask if the hallway was supposed to be repeating over and over again. It was, but I was never going to figure out how to make it to the end of the iconic teaser.
