The call of the open sea is hard to resist, and the pull is strong inSailing Era. This anime-style sailing game has you taking control of a sailor during a time when the ocean was a brave new world. There are several sailors with their own stories and starting points to show you different parts of the world and experience different cultures.

Still, as much as you can learn on the high seas, you also need to respect them. This means that you’ll have to need to brace yourself in the right ways so that you can start smart and strong.
Make Use Of Your Save Slots
Autosave is a new standard in games that saves a lot of headaches. In Sailing Era,the game will automatically save typically after you arrive at a new location or complete a task. The problem is that, while this is helpful, it can also be an issue for those who like to test out different decisions and strategies.
As such,Sailing Era has a long list of empty save slots for you to manually save your progress.Use this often, because you never know when something will happen that will completely destroy your achievements. The slots also provide the opportunity to try out each of the main character sailors at once, so you’re able to see which one is more suited to your style.
Have A World Map Open
Although many game worlds are inspired by real-life locations, they will work hard to arrange them in unique ways so that they’re unrecognizable. This is not the case for Sailing Era,which has only taken small liberties with the story and some historical elements.
It is actually based on the real world, which you will come to learn through text and exploration. Still, the in-game map starts out blank, so if you want to prevent yourself from getting lost, have a real-world map open nearby to help get your bearings. It’s surprisingly accurate, and many of the ports you visit will still be visible on the map.
Talk To Everyone
Sailing Era does a lot to make you want to stay out on the sea, even if that means sailing through pirate-infested waters. Still, you can’t ignore the fact thatthere’s a huge narrative component involved.People can be found in all sorts of facilities such as the Royal Palace, and Marketplaces, but the Tavern is the one that hosts the most diverse cast of characters. It includes merchants who may have rare items and a chance to recruit additional crew members.
This doesn’t only give significance to the story, but actively determines how the story unfolds, and what types of jobs you’ll have. It also provides leads, somake sure you talk to everyone at all the different locationsin order to get some more details about surroundings, lore, the market, and more. The more you know, the more places you can go.
Always Check Supplies
While it would be much easier to just sail into the unknown, throwing all caution to the wind, you won’t have it that easy.Your crew has needs and morale that need to be maintainedif you’re going to succeed. A quick and effective way to raise spiritsis to stop in the local Tavern at a given port and buy your crew members a round of drinks.
As such, you need to provide for and keep everyone healthy, which can be done by buying and restocking at the pier. You’re given the option to auto-restock every time you dock, but it’s not always reliable.
Make sure you check supplies yourself and manually restock just to be safe. If you’re running low during a long voyage, keep an eye out for floating Cargo or fight some pirates for theirs. You can also negotiate with certain ships to try and trade if need be.
Prioritize Quality Ships Over Quantity
The game starts you off with a pretty sturdy boat of decent size and equipment. It’ll take you some time before you accumulate enough wealth to grow your fleet. But, when that happens, don’t jump at the opportunity to buy a bunch of cheap boatsor even just another semi-quality boat. It makes more sense to spend your money maintaining one good boat than a bunch of below-average boats.
Until you get the hang of things and build up some wealth, focus on making your flagship the best ship.Expand, upgrade, and make sure that your crew has the absolute best.Every time you arrive at a new port, see if there’s a Shipyard to visit.
The upgrades will alternate depending on the status of the port, your ship, and other related factors. If some options seem too expensive in one port, then look for better prices in another port. There’s no good show without a strong headliner.
